Although my waxer tells me BS stories about women who read magazines and talk on the phone while getting their vaginas waxed (who are you!?), I believe most of us find the process appropriately painful. I use numbing spray and Advil and still, I sweat and occasionally tear up. You’ll see no such pansy assery from Rihanna. According to a gossipy employee at Fuzz Wax Bar in Toronto, Rihanna enjoyed her Brazilian waaaayyy too much. The “insider” reports:
“One of our estheticians brought Rihanna the numbing cream but she just laughed. Most women find a Brazilian wax very painful but she just said: ‘No way, I love the pain. It feels good to me.’ … RiRi was escorted to a treatment room with very thin walls and not a scream or squeal was heard. In fact, it sounded like she was enjoying herself. She was singing and humming songs all through the treatment. None of us could stop laughing.”
New urban waxing legend: women who love the pain so much that they sing while getting they’re pubic hair ripped out. Thanks, RiRi! [Dlisted]
So, you guys, this is basically my worst fear EVER: a woman says she got herpes from using a tester tube of lipstick! Starkeema Greenidge of Harlem attended a Rihanna concert earlier this month, where the makeup brand MAC was holding a popup shop and selling Rihanna’s new RiRi Woo lipstick. Like many a woman before her, Greenidge sauntered over to the tester tubes and tried the RiRi Woo lipstick on. An employee even told her to “press her lips together and spread the lipstick around.” And that’s when, according to Greenidge’s lawsuit against MAC, that she got HERPES. Two days after the Rihanna concert, a cold sore appeared on her lip, which her doctor diagnosed as oral herpes. Now she’s suing the company for not using a “fresh or new lipstick tube,” which is “unsanitary and exposing patrons to possible spread of disease.” Well now. Aren’t germs and possible diseases kinda the risk you run by testing communally-used makeup inside a store? MAC is not going to open a fresh lipstick for every single patron because that would be expensive and wasteful. They probably should either disinfect each lipstick or should wipe the top, used part of lipstick off before each new use. But I am a major germophobe and vigilant about wiping lipsticks whenever I test colors. Vigilance! It seems like the best defense of public grossness. Trust no one, Starkeema Greenidge. Yesterday, we, and many, many others, breathed a sigh of relief when Chris Brown told a radio station that he and Rihanna had once again broken up. (They’re both too young for him to be “wife”-ing her, he said.) Humor site The Onion did their spin on the story today, penning the story “Heartbroken Chris Brown Always Thought Rihanna Was Woman He’d Beat To Death,” in which Brown (obviously, not really Brown) laments he’ll never get to murder her in a domestic violence incident. Here’s a sample:
After revealing yesterday that he had recently split up with longtime girlfriend Rihanna, a heartbroken Chris Brown tearfully told reporters that he always thought the 25-year-old singer was going to be the woman he’d beat to death one day. “Despite all the ups and downs, I was so sure Rihanna was the one I’d take by the throat one day and fatally assault, and even toward the end I continued to hold out hope that we’d be together until the day she died at my hands from blunt-force trauma,” Brown, 24, said in a radio interview this week, telling DJs he still has abusive feelings for his ex-flame and is hopeful that he might punch her again one day.
Simply, I thought the piece was cringe-inducingly hilarious — it’s supposed to make you viscerally uncomfortable about how far domestic violence can go. Not everyone agrees, instead seeing it as mocking violence against women of color. Keep reading »
I actually think Rihanna’s outfit here is cute– I love the crazy printed top with the shorts. But those shoes. THOSE SHOES SANDALS WHATEVER. They look kind of like those fake, detachable legs or leg braces. Which are great if you don’t have legs and need them, but they make for very odd shoe-inspiration. Also, clearly a pain in the ass to get on and off. [Photos: INF Daily]
