I have a total thing for Mandy Moore that is not very easily explained. She’s no superstar in any department, though I think she’s a decent actress and singer (frankly, I loved her album of cover songs). But something about her seems nice and smart and she’s definitely stylish, which is why we’ve pulled together a slideshow of some of her hottest looks. BUT while I was doing research, I came across this video, of her covering Rihanna’s “Umbrella”. She does it in a very moody way. I like it. And normally I think people should keep their grubby paws off RiRi. Anyway, slideshow after the jump… Keep reading »
At last night’s MTV Movie Awards, there were lots of bad clothes. Personally, I think Ellen Page (winner of Best Female Performance) dressed quite appropriately for the event, wearing jeans and sneakers. Fancy dresses are not what the MTV Movie Awards should be about, especially if they’re short dresses. As Lindsay Lohan discovered, wearing a short dress while sitting in a movie theater means showing more leg than you may have planned. [MTV] Keep reading »
Lots of people are wondering what will be this summer’s hot jam, replacing last year’s “Umbrella” by Rihanna and 2006′s “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley. Head on over to our Frisky Muxtape page and then vote in our poll! We think these songs are in contention… Keep reading »
On American Idol this week, David Archuleta sang Chris Brown’s “With You.” David sucked, but because he swayed back and forth without speck of dancing ability, he reminded me just how great Chris Brown is. (No, I am not saying this simply because I think Rihanna is fabulous and the two of them are clearly together.) As you can see on the June cover of Ebony, Chris has filled out nicely. And by filled out, I mean developed ridiculous muscles. Also, Chris has moves we ain’t never seen — according to a video on Ebony.com, Chris took gymnastics for four years. Hot. Rihanna’s new single “Take A Bow” is not a song you’re going to be dancing to — unless you’re in seventh grade and find yourself swaying back and forth awkwardly with a scrawny tween boy. But Rihanna is so lovable and lovely that Nathan and I couldn’t resist watching the song’s video together. We agree that she’s fierce but want different things from her. Me? Well, I want to be her.
Nathan: Why is she looking at her nails?
Catherine: Her nails are too long. Like old lady nails. Keep reading »
My friend Sarah and I are obsessed with neon nails. I have to give Sarah a little credit though, because she started wearing hot pink as her signature nail color way before any of us had even heard of Rihanna — back then, that girl was still singing “Hero” in Barbados. So, day-glo polish is awesome, but the problem with them is that they’re usually cheap (I bought mine at Claire’s) and therefore require you to apply three coats, and then, the polish chips off in a day. Starting in June, however, both Essie and Chanel will offer high-quality neon nails. This is wonderful news for those of us who are too old to be shopping for beauty products in a store that sells fuzzy Cheetah Girls headbands. [Chic & Untroubled]
