Mark your calendars for May 13, folks, and not because it’s the day after my birthday. On the 13th, John Edwards will be taking the stand in the case of Rielle Hunter versus Andrew Young. Back in January, Young started yapping about a sex tape of Edwards and Hunter that he had in his possession. Hunter sued Young for invasion of privacy, demanding that he return the tape along with several other personal items. After five hearings, it appears that he has done so. But the case is not over yet. Keep reading »
Oprah has scored the first on-air interview with Rielle Hunter and we’re hoping she brings out the Big O guns and doesn’t ask suuuper boring questions like reporters did at Tiger Woods’ press conference this week. And because we’re
busy bodies super helpful, here are 10 questions that we’d like to see Oprah ask John Edwards‘ mistress. Keep reading »
If you were shocked by Rielle Hunter‘s GQ photos—in which she poses in a button-down men’s shirt, pearls, and no pants while lying on a bed in one photo and sitting seductively with a stuffed Dora the Explorer in another—then you’re not the only one to let out a gasp. Hunter herself has called the photos “repulsive” and went crying to Barbara Walters to state her case. Yesterday, Walters revealed on “The View” that she’d spoken to Hunter, who said she cried for two hours when she saw the racy pics. When Walters asked Hunter why she sat for the photos, Walters quoted her as saying, “I went with the flow.” Hunter reportedly claims the magazine was supposed to use headshots for all but one photo and that she trusted photographer Mark Seliger to pick less promiscuous photos. But in an interview with “Good Morning America” today, Lisa DePaulo, the writer of the GQ article, was in disbelief over Hunter’s claims. Keep reading »
You don’t really want to know what’s in the John Edwards sex tape, do you? Do you? Really?
Well, all right then: The Daily Beast spoke with multiple sources who’ve allegedly viewed the tape of Edwards and Rielle Hunter, and this icky, icky video that we don’t want to think about graphically depicts the former presidential candidate …. Keep reading »
At long last, John Edwards‘ mistress has spoken! Rielle Hunter gave her first-ever interview to Lisa DePaulo at GQ, jam-packed with quotes she’s gonna regret: about when they first met (“There was an instant and odd connection that we both felt.”), her weird ideas on gender roles (“I could not emasculate him!”), and even about their daughter, Quinn (“She was conceived in love. She is a love child.”) And, of course, the sex tape.
Hoo boy. The biggest shocker? Rielle Hunter is about 10 times more hippy-dippy-doodle than you can even imagine. She says things like, “We’re all slaves to our unconscious” and “The force field of our love overrode any issues that would arise from my belief systems.” And her business card reads “RIELLE HUNTER. BEING IS FREE.”
Yeah, seriously. After the jump, let’s wade through the muck and sludge that is Rielle Hunter’s interview with GQ: Keep reading »
Andrew Young, the former John Edwards aide who claims in his book, The Politician, that he lied for the former presidential candidate, went on “Good Morning America” today with his wife, Cheri. The couple talked about how they always put John and Elizabeth Edwards first, saying they housed Rielle Hunter for eight months and even brought her along on family vacations. They even agreed to say Rielle’s baby was Andrew’s. Apparently, John told them he was going to come clean after Elizabeth died, because he didn’t want her to find out about the scandal. “We’ve been offered gigantic amounts of money and we’ve said no.”
— Andrew Young, John Edwards‘ former aide who claims he’s got a sex tape starring the ex-senator and mistress/baby mama, Rielle Hunter. Ick, politicians should not make sex tapes! [New York Post]

John Edwards should have known better than to let his videographer/lovah bring her camera into the bedroom. Andrew Young—the former Edwards’ staffer who originally took the fall for having the affair with Hunter—described finding the tape in Rielle Hunter’s trash in his book and he’ll be appearing on “Nightline” and “20/20″ tonight to describe exactly what was on it. Hunter is in court as we speak, trying to get a restraining order for the tape to be kept under wraps. If she doesn’t, who knows what could happen? Let’s just say that more than a few people would be interested in watching.
While politicians make sex tapes with far less frequency than Hollywood folk or rock stars (or maybe they’re just better at keeping them a secret?), Edwards is hardly the first to find himself in this situation. After the jump, a history of politicians and their naughty tapes. Keep reading »
Ruh-roh. Rielle Hunter has gone to court to suppress “a personal video recording that depicted matters of a very private and personal nature.” The alleged video recording is in the possession of Andrew and Cheri Young. Mr. Young was Edwards’ long-time assistant, and he gave an interview with ABC News describing what was on the tape he found in Edwards’ trash can. Though he never saw her face in the video, he described the woman as “visibly pregnant” and “wearing a bracelet” and a “thumb ring” resembling those often worn by Rielle Hunter. Thumb ring? Really? Eww. [ABC News] Keep reading »
