Ricky Gervais Impersonates David Bowie

Well lookey what we have here. A young Ricky Gervais who clearly fancies himself a David Bowie disciple. Ricky was the front man of British new wave band, Seona Dancing. Even though this song hit number 70 on the UK charts, I’m glad he decided to explore his comedic side instead of staying focused on his bitter heart. I prefer Ricky’s music video for “If You Don’t Know Me by Now” made as David Brent from “The Office.” The white linen outfit kills me every time. Check it out after the jump. Quickies: Hollywood Still Shocked And Offended By Ricky Gervais

  • Somehow, people are surprised that Ricky Gervais was “offensive” as host of the Golden Globes, but despite lampooning everyone from the cast of “The Tourist” and Robert Downey Jr. to gay Scientologists and Bruce Willis (“Ashton Kutcher’s dad”), he managed to survive the whole affair. Not that he’ll be asked back to host a second time. [Huffington Post]
  • Regis Philbin announced that this will be his last hosting “Live with Regis & Kelly” — Jeff Probst is being batted around as a possible replacement, but I would prefer Kelly Ripa’s hot husband Mark Consuelos. [Yahoo News]

Ricky Gervais’ Opening Monologue At The Golden Globes Skewers Hollywood

Last night’s Golden Globe Awards may have been the last time Ricky Gervais is welcomed in the loving arms of Hollywood again. His opening monologue — and subsequent one-liners throughout the night — refused to take the crowd of stars seriously. Something tells us many of them weren’t amused. Keep reading »

Ricky Gervais’ New Show Will Make Him Look Very Tall

There is no doubting that Ricky Gervais is hysterical. But his new show sounds a little … little. Called “Life is Short,” the new comedy follows Warwick Davis, who is 3″6′ and the most famous little person in the U.K. You’ve seen him, too. Remember “Willow”? Yep, that’s him. The show chronicles the trials and tribulations of being a little actor. “It’s about his life, the life of a showbiz dwarf,” says Gervais. “He plays himself, I play myself, it’s sort of like ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm.’ We’re having so much fun working with Warwick. Pound for pound he is one of the funniest men I know.”

So what do you think—will you be watching? Or will you wait for the inevitable American version? [NY Mag] Keep reading »

Michael Scott And David Brent Set For An “Office” Showdown

As a fan of both the American and British versions of “The Office,” I have on occasion wondered who would win in an arm-wrestling match—David Brent or Michael Scott. It looks like I might finally get my answer. Rumor has it that Ricky Gervais will be doing a guest spot on “The Office,” stateside, playing his infamous character. Writers, feel free to take that arm-wrestling idea. Or you could make it a dance-off. Either way, I’m curious to see which of these dudes’ characters is the more egotastically clueless in a side-by-side comparison. [The Independent] Keep reading »
