10 Dumb Urban Legends

Like most irrational beliefs in the world, urban legends take root during our childhood when we’re at our dumbest. Some urban legends are laughably harmless but some can cause a rift between parents and kids that can last a life time. If it wasn’t for the Internet I’d still resent my parents because of the Back to the Future hoverboard urban legend.

You’d think the Internet (being the ultimate fact checking resource that it is) would kill any urban legend before it had a chance to spread but it’s actually makes it worse. Most of the persistent urban legends are from the pre-Internet days but there are newer ones like the subscription based Facebook urban legend that keeps annoyingly popping up on our newsfeeds from time to time. Read more …

Richard Gere Hates On “Pretty Woman”

The cult ’90s movie many girls grow up to worship in some manner is being bashed by none other than the man who was in it: Richard Gere.

After the jump, the top ten movie couples we’re dying to see reunite on-screen:

Gere Goes Free

Devout Buddhist Richard Gere, who regularly travels to India, was facing obscenity charges for his kiss heard ’round the world. Last year, at an AIDS fundraiser in New Delhi, the actor swooped up one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Shilpa Shetty, and planted a few kisses on her cheek and hand. But the bigger dip appeared to be Gere, whose controversial smooth moves are considered vulgar by traditional Indian culture. While the stunning stunt caused public protests and uproar, at his trial yesterday, the Supreme Court graciously threw the case against Gere out citing cultural differences. The Justices just slapped him on the wrist, saying his actions were for publicity and brought a “bad name” on the country. Sounds like they’re not too impressed by the American Gigolo-act.
