Every once in a while, I get my eyebrows professionally threaded. But for the most part, I tweeze. Because I’m lazy, and also anxiety-prone and ripping out eyebrow hairs feels somehow calming. But most tweezers? Totally ineffectual. It’s so hard to see the hairs! But not anymore. Revlon finally put two and two together and realized that to adequately tweeze you’ve got to be able to see the effing hairs. So they created the Revlon Spotlight Tweezer With LED Technology, and added a small LED light to their latest tweezers, and holy crap, what an improvement. You can actually see the hairs — even the little ones that are super wispy and easy to miss. Better tweezing through science!  [$10.99, Drugstore.com]

I am very possibly a lip beauty product hoarder. Alas, that is not what we are here to discuss.

I’d long admired the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain at my local pharmacy, but I never felt justified in forking over $8 for yet another lip product. Then last weekend I lost my nerve and finally bought the shade Lovesick, a vibrant-but-not-clownish hot pink. Keep reading »

I think I’ve mentioned my love for Revlon Lip Butters a few times now, most recently in the context of my summer makeup routine, but I thought it was time to make things official and ask Lip Butter to marry me write up a full Beauty Test Drive. This awesome lip balm/lipstick hybrid is the bestselling lip color of the year, and I’ve contributed to its success by buying three shades (so far) and recommending it to many of my friends, especially the ones who are hesitant about lipstick. Want to know why? Get the scoop, after the jump… Keep reading »

Lust Vs. Must: Awesome Orange-y Red Lipstick

Coral is the color of summer. But do you want to spend a ton of money on a lipstick you’ll probably shove deep in your junk drawer once fall comes? We didn’t think so. So we’ve compared some of the most popular corals on the market. Can you tell which is the $24 lipstick and which was plucked from CVS shelves for just $1.99? Keep reading »

A Top Notch Top Coat

Having a manicure is kind of “my thing.” I very rarely have bare, unpolished nails for longer than a day or two, and my bathroom cabinet is stocked with polish colors I love. Unfortunately, “my thing” can be a bit of a pricey luxury, as getting a manicure once a week adds up! Recently, however, I’ve started doing my own nails and have been going to the nail salon less — and thanks to Revlon’s Liquid Quick Dry, I don’t have to spent 20 minutes trying to dry my handiwork (pun intended!) under the blowdryer. I am not overstating when I say this top coat protects against chipping almost instantly. I am not entirely sure how it works, but it’s more liquid-y than most topcoats and contains mineral oil that’s good for moisturizing the nail beds. I have been let down by many a top coat before, but this one, I swear to you, is an impatient gal’s best friend. [$5.75, Drugstore.com]

Earlier this week, Olivia Wilde was named Revlon’s new Global Brand Ambassador, which we imagine means she’s got to look pretty and wear Revlon around the world. Shouldn’t be too hard for Ms. Wilde, who’s one of the most gorgeous faces in Hollywood at the moment. To commemorate the occasion, she wore this polka dot skirt and breathtaking Lanvin blouse. Of course, Wilde can afford the more than $1,000 that her Lanvin look costs, while we can, alas, not. So that’s why we’ve dug out some similar items that will give you her look for way less. Emma Stone And Olivia Wilde Unite In Prettiness For Revlon

Just like Gretchen in “Mean Girls” kept trying to make “fetch” happen, the world just keeps insisting that Olivia Wilde happen. And why not? She’s gorgeous, catlike and the daughter of leftist politco thinker Alexander Cockburn, so sure. Emma Stone, on the other hand, is a sparkly, keen-eyed redhead with great comic timing who yes, you’d want to be your best friend. Together, the two will serve as global brand ambassadors for cosmetics giant Revlon this next year. No, this doesn’t mean they’ll be attending the interplanetary makeup conference on disgraced former planet Pluto (but don’t you wish there was one?)–it just means you’ll be seeing a whole lot more of these two, so get ready. Yay pretty ladies! Keep reading »

Revlon Offers Nail Polish You Can Sniff

When I was a kid, I loved those smelly markers so much that I refused to color with them for fear they would run out of scent. Obviously, they eventually dried up, but not before I forgot about them and moved on to a different obsession. Revlon hasn’t forgotten how much girls like scented products though, and the company is cashing in on the childhood trend with a line of fragrant nail polishes. But unlike the markers, these nail hues only give off odors when dry, which means if you choose to manicure your hands with one of these polishes, you’ll be a walking perfume bottle for the five whole days the scent lasts; when you pick your polish, you’re committing to a wearing a particular color and scent. The smelly options include Grape Icy, Ocean Breeze, and Beach, which sound more like candle fragrances than perfumes in my opinion. I’m not sold on this idea, especially considering the fact that I really don’t want my hands to smell, ever. Will you try Revlon’s scented offering? [Fashionista] Keep reading »

My First Time: The Revlon Walk For Women’s Cancers

As a busy New Yorker whose normal weeknight get-home time is 9 p.m. if not later, I’m pretty selfish about my Saturdays. There are no plans to be made before 2 p.m. — no, I can’t get to that toddler’s birthday party in Brooklyn at noon; nope, I don’t care if there’s a free yoga class downtown at 10 a.m. Sleeping in and lounging around into the early afternoon is a must. Tomorrow, however, my husband and I are donating our Saturday to the Revlon Run/Walk for Women’s Cancer, and I, personally, couldn’t feel better about waking up at 7 a.m. on my day off. Get Rihanna’s “Military Couture” Red Lips

We weren’t so sure what to think about the “couture military” style Rihanna spoke of while filming the video for her song “Hard.” But now that we’re seeing the outfits in context, they’re not nearly as scary or horrible as we had first concluded. Rihanna can keep this style to herself, however, because we certainly won’t be putting on anything remotely similar, well, except for her gorgeous orange-y red lipstick. The shade resembles Nars’ Heat Wave and Revlon’s Hot Coral, and it will look just as good when worn with something other than an army green jacket, a bustier with electrical tape-covered nipples, and a pair of practically nonexistent cut-offs.
