Bridget Jones’s Diary: The Musical!?

First, Bridget Jones’s Diary was a book. Then it was a movie. Then another movie. And, as rumor has it, another movie. We started shaking our heads when we heard about a possible Bridget Jones TV show. And now, alas, it’s going to be a musical. There’s no word yet on who will be playing Bridget—Renée Zellweger did prove she can sing in “Chicago.” We do know, however, that Lily Allen is doing music for the show. Plus, the director and choreographer of “Billy Elliot,” Stephen Daldry and Peter Darling, are also on board. The musical is in the workshop stage and could open in London’s West End as early as next year. Would you go see it if you took a trip across the pond? [NYMag.com] Keep reading »

Jewel Was Called The “Chubby Renee Zellweger”?

So apparently, back in the late ’90s when ladyfolk were buying up Pieces of You and you couldn’t escape the song “You Were Meant For Me,” people started referring to Jewel as the “chubby Renee Zellweger.” Now, I never heard anyone say this—but Jewel claims it was widespread and that this did serious damage to her self-esteem. “My feelings were so hurt by that, I ended up binging on an entire cake. Afterward, I actually tried to throw it all up, but thankfully I couldn’t do it,” she said. “I had seen so many performers develop eating disorders or try to control their weight with drugs, and I decided I would do no harm to my body.” Eek! Weekend Wear: Renee Zellweger’s Dinner And A Movie Look

Movie theaters and restaurants can feel downright frigid during the summer. That’s great for those who don’t want a high electricity bill but still want to cool off. It sucks, however, for those who get goose bumps from the slightest change in temperature. Renee Zellweger has the perfect outfit for dinner and a movie during a summer night. The ankle-length pants will keep legs toasty and the long-sleeves will do the same for the arms. Notice that the T-shirt is tissue-thin, though, so you won’t overheat while making the trek from the car or train to the door of your destination. Plus, those strappy heels will show off your sexy side. Get the details on how you can re-create Renee’s look after the jump, and don’t forget vibrant lipstick or nail polish for a pop of color. Do You Cut Your Hair For The Summer?

We’re noticing a trend lately. As the temperature heats up across the country, celebrities are taking scissors to their hair. We already told you about Heidi Klum’s new bob that’s about six or seven inches shorter than her previous style. And model Agyness Deyn started rocking a boyish buzz cut recently. Surprisingly, Hayden Panettiere also shortened her hair to a Sharon Stone-esque cut that gives her an edgier look in the sea of blondes in Hollywood. Renee Zellweger took her chin-length bob to a choppier cropped ‘do, too.

As someone with waist-length hair, I can understand the appeal of going shorter in the summer months. But can’t these women simply put their hair in a bun or ponytail when it’s too hot? Maybe the desire for a change was more of a motivation than the temperature. We’ll never know, but the more important question is: Do you cut your hair for the summer? Keep reading »

Renee Zellweger Supposedly Pushing To Make Bridget Jones Skinny In The Next Flick

Over the summer, we got more than a little bit excited when we heard a rumor that “Bridget Jones 3″ was in the works. Sources say the movie is happening. But will Bridget be the adorable, slightly plump woman we identified with in the first flick? Or will one of her diets have worked, and she’ll now be rail thin? Supposedly, and the source here is the National Enquirer so take it with a grain of salt, Renee Zellweger is hard-core pressing for the later latter. According to the rag, she is nervous to put on weight for the role again—her doctors have told her it’s unhealthy. Also, Renee allegedly thinks the demise of her and Jack White’s relationship had to do with her extra pounds and doesn’t want to risk having it affect her relationship with Bradley Cooper. (Side notes: A) Does Jack White really get to talk about people putting on weight—Noel Gallagher recently described him as “Zorro on doughnuts.” B) Perhaps Bradley would like her a little curvier?) Renee supposedly asked producers if she could wear a fat suit rather than actually gaining the weight. And now she’s lobbying to avoid the issue altogether and play the role as she is. Producers, we BEG you not to let this happen. A skinny Bridget Jones just wouldn’t be the same. [Celebitchy] Keep reading »
