I went to a play once in London. It was called Posh, and it was about a bunch of private school jerks who might have accidentally killed someone. With that in mind, I’d say I don’t much care about the London Evening Standard Theater Awards on their face. Rather, I’m more interested in the fact that Anna Wintour was there, in all her frightening glory. And where Anna is, good fashion can’t be far behind. See who hit a home run — and who totally struck out — in front of the Vogue editor.
The American Music Awards, an annual assessment of the state of the music industry. A chance for music superstars to mix, mingle and enjoy excessive gift bags. Also, another opportunity for Taylor Swift to pretend to be surprised when she wins something (she is super, super good at that). And as always, the clothes ranged from fantastic to fartworthy. Let’s take a look.
On Tuesday, Vogue hosted the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s annual fashion fund awards, bestowing glory and heaps of cash on one lucky designer. This year’s mega winner is Greg Chait, the man behind the collection The Elder Statesman. But while Greg may have won all the money, there was another battle being fought on the red carpet — it was the stylish against the total fashion messes. Let’s go to the photos…
In between the election and Hurricane Sandy and the other junk happening this week, Hollywood found another way to celebrate itself: the American Film Institute Festival, at which the new films “Ginger and Rosa” and “Lincoln” premiered. We thought we’d take a look and see what all the stars in attendance wore. Click on to check out all the crazy celeb fashion!
The Country Music Awards were held last night, and shocker! Taylor Swift didn’t win anything. For the first time in a gazillion years, audiences missed out on Swift’s patented “OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE I WON!” surprise face. Big winners included married country superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, who must not have any mantle space left after their five combined wins last night.
But what you’re really wondering is: What did the winners (and losers) wear?
I think the LACMA Art + Film Gala is the West Coast’s version of the CFDA Awards — everybody looks totally flawless, and they’re all wearing fashions that are sort of high concept and adventurous. It probably also helps that this year’s LACMA Gala was sponsored by Gucci, and practically everyone wore Gucci to the event. That must have been a total load off the stylists’ minds. In any case, there were some who wore it better than others. Shall we go to the photo evidence?
I’ve already reviewed all the fashion moments from last night’s Emmy Awards, but the hair and makeup almost stole the spotlight — in good and bad ways. Click on to see my picks for the best hair and makeup. Connie Britton, we need to talk….
There are always a few dresses at these big awards shows that I just can’t reach a decision about. Do I love it? Or do I hate it? Here are nine such examples from last night’s Emmy Awards. Help me decide how to feel!
The good news is, the vast majority of those walking the red carpet at last night’s Emmy Awards were dressed nicely. Some I loved more than others (Edie Falco! Emily VanCamp!), but most were difficult to find fault with. And then there were these 13 dresses. I’m sorry, but they were just straight up terrible.
Last night’s Emmy Awards were, for the most part, predictable and boring and really, all you need to know is that you should really watch the first season of “Homeland” — which won best drama series — before the second season starts this Sunday. But before you do that, let’s review what everyone wore, starting with our best dressed!
