This past weekend, celebs turned out in droves to honor … a performance artist? Yep, you read that right; instead of the usual self-congratulatory Hollywood crap, stars convened at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles to honor Serbian performance artist Marina Abramovic. Abramovic, along with Debbie Harry, performed at the event, and there was plenty of good, bad and totally out-there fashions (we’re looking at you, Jeremy Scott). Click through to see what we mean.
If there’s one place for a celebrity lady to step up her game, it’s on the red carpet. Whenever it’s rolled out, famous faces come out of the woodwork (do they exist when they’re not making public appearances? Important life questions) to show off what they’ve got. Classic, bizarre, avant garde — as we’ve seen, it’s all fair in
love dresses and war. But sometimes, even those who make a million a movie step out of line (and that is a fine line indeed!) and come off looking, well, cheap.
The Golden Globes? Yawn. The Emmys? Meh. The Academy Awards? Ugh, whatevs. The VMAs? Amateurs, all of the them! I have a new favorite award show and it’s the Latin Grammy Awards. Oh, I didn’t actually watch them. I just perused the red carpet fashions and had my mind blown. I must admit I didn’t know much about many of these singers/musicians/stars, but I am left wanting to know more. Way more. Especially about Alejandra Guzman, who I am officially convinced must be the Latin American hybrid of Courtney Stodden and Paz de la Huerta. Anyway, click onward to see some amazing sartorial displays.
So, let’s talk about the fashions at the Country Music Awards. Everyone thinks they should get a special dispensation because it’s the Country Music Awards and Nashville is where sparkle glitter was invented or something, but I say no! Taylor Swift still manages to look classy! So can you Miranda Lambert! And everybody else! Take a look at how they all fared.
Last night celebs, models and designers turned out to preview Versace’s new collaboration with H&M. But while the clothes coming down the runway were gorgeous, the ones on the backs of the audience were a mixed bag. Click through to see what we’re talking about.
Glamour held their 21st Annual Women of the Year Awards at Carnegie Hall last night, and some of the most bold-faced (female!) names in entertainment, politics, art, fashion, and social justice came out to show their support and recognize the often underrepresented causes that the Awards bring to light. Of course, with this many high-profile women in one place, we’ve got a pretty substantial amount of fashion to ogle. Here’s ten of the best, the worst, and the what-the-hell-was-she-thinking.
This weekend, America’s most renowned artists … okay, who am I kidding? This weekend, a few of America’s most palatable pop stars, like Selena Gomez and Katy Perry, flew ‘cross the pond to meet up with their Euro brethren at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Lady Gaga shoved her crotch at the crowd, Adam Lambert stood in for my beloved Freddie Mercury during Queen’s performance (I am deeply unhappy about this), and a whole mess of people dressed like fools. There were some sartorial standouts too — click through this slideshow to see the good, the bad, and the WTF on the MTV EMAs red carpet!
This weekend, there was a party in LA! I was not invited! Tons of pretty celebs were there wearing fancy dresses and, again, I was not invited! The party in question was the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) Art + Film Gala, which was raising money to make film a more important part of the museum’s offerings. (It’s Hollywood, they want film to be the focus of everything, amiright?!) Upon looking at the fancy dresses these famous ladies were wearing, I realize I would have had nothing to wear anyway, so I’m glad I made other plans, i.e. stayed home and made spaghetti and painted my nails. Thank you for not inviting me, fancy Hollywood event planners. I would have felt guilty saying no. Anyway, click through this slideshow to see what Reese Witherspoon, Kate Bosworth, Evan Rachel Wood, Amy Poehler, Kate Hudson, and a whole bunch of other fancy people wore instead.
This past weekend, Brit music rag Q held its annual awards fest. There were new popsters (Jessie J) and old legends (Siouxsie Sioux) wandering around, and lots and lots of bad fashion. Let’s take a look, shall we?
The new movie “Ides of March” is all about two of the hottest dudes on earth – Ryan Gosling and George Clooney — teaming up to run a political campaign. But that didn’t stop the ladies of the film from dressing to the nines for the film’s premiere. Check out who won the race — and who made a poor showing at the polls — after the jump.
