Sometimes we feel like Us Weekly‘s “The Fashion Police” and other similar style critics can be a tad harsh. Also, they tend to have these really boring, conservative styles and we have to wonder what their real fashion credentials are. (Case in point: US Weekly‘s “Top Cops” include random comedian Stefanie Novik and Chet Cannon of “The Real World, Brooklyn.” When did they ever go to design school!?) The Fashion Peacekeepers are here to say, hey, can’t everyone’s styles just get along?
It’s not easy, but every now and then, we feel kinda bad for famous, beautiful cajillionaires. Tabloids, paparazzi, us … can they not catch an everlovin’ break? Today, fashion police across the web are brandishing their weapons and calling out rom-kom kween Jennifer Aniston for making the grave sartorial misstep of wearing a color that clashes with the red carpet. OK, so the dress is not one we would be caught dead in, but that’s beside the point. Must celebs always nix the color hot pink no matter what? Sounds like garment prejudice, and we don’t like it one bit. Keep reading »
While we’re still dying over the very interesting outfit Rihanna wore to the Echo Awards in Berlin, we were surprised to see she wasn’t the most strangely dressed attendee there that night. Danish pop sensation Aura Dione looks like she could give Lady Gaga a real run for her money. Sweet hat, dude! [Berlin, 3/4/10] Keep reading »
As kids, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen played one person — Michelle Tanner — on the TV show “Full House,” so it was a given that they’d dress identically back then. But these days, the sisters have perfected the art of coordinating outfits so they look similar but still distinctive. At JCPenney’s spring fashion show Tuesday night (left), the Olsens both put on short, belted dresses in dark colors. Last month, they attended the Elle Style Awards in London (right) sporting fur jackets on top of short dresses with long tulle overlays. The two probably figure they’ll be photographed together and might as well look good together, which isn’t that much different from calling up your friends before a night out to plan what you’re wearing. Do you coordinate outfits with friends so you’ll complement one another? Keep reading »
We’re in the thick of awards season, and while we’re as obsessed with looking at fantasy red carpet fashion as anyone can be, it’s hard to imagine that anyone actually buys this stuff. First off, it’s not like the celebs do. And the borrowed samples they’re wearing are usually so new that they’re not available to purchase anyway. But are there really rich ladies out there who will jump at the chance to buy the exact same thing they saw a famous person wear to an event? Apparently, yes, yes there are. And the stars who move the most merch aren’t the ones you’d guess. Keep reading »
