Rumor Telephone: Jake Gyllenhaal’s “Dates” With Rashida Jones And Anna Kendrick

Over the long weekend, Jake Gyllenhaal was obviously slutting it up. And by slutting it up, I mean that he (gasp!) went to lunch with Rashida Jones at a cafe in Los Angeles, and the very next day dared to (ZOMG!) go to Subway and give a one-arm hug to his “End of Watch” co-star, Anna Kendrick. Just like I did the other week, I watched both stories develop from minute little tidbits into full-out scandals via the headlines appearing in my Google Reader. After the jump, how both rumors grew more and more salacious over the course of just a few hours. Keep reading »

Rashida Jones Can’t Stop Talking About Her Kiss With Zooey Deschanel

Rashida Jones just can’t stop talking about her experience making out with Zooey Deschanel, whose girlfriend she plays in “My Idiot Brother.” Or is it that people just can’t stop asking her about it? Back in May, she told the Advocate of her first sapphic experience, “‘I was like, ‘Oh, my God, girls are so pretty and soft. No stubble burn! What am I doing with guys?’ [Laughs] I haven’t dipped back since, but I was very appreciative of the experience.” A few days later, she told GQ, “I feel like I’ve come a long way from my first job, when I had to get mouth-to-mouth resuscitation from Rip Torn.” Earlier this week, she told VH1 News, “The boys were so giggly on set…they loved it!”

Last night, she appeared on “Chelsea Lately.” And of course the topic came up and she gave some new info. Keep reading »

Quickies: “Botox Mom” Says She Was Lying & Rashida Jones In Lingerie For “GQ”

  • Kerry Campbell, the mother who said she gave her her eight-year-old daughter Botox so she could compete in beauty pageants, now claims she made everything up. In fact, she says her name isn’t even Kerry Campbell! A woman named Sheena Upton claims she is an actress who was offered $200 by The Sun, a tawdry British tabloid, to “play the role of Kerry Campbell” for an article. Upton/Campbell’s daughter was removed from her home by Child Protective Services, then returned after the girl was examined by doctors. Media outlets who interviewed Upton/Campbell, like “Good Morning America” and “Inside Edition,” are now scrambling to figure out her true identity (and the rest of the truth!). [TMZ]
  • Victoria Beckham is reportedly booked to deliver her daughter via C-section in Los Angeles on July 4th. Is Victoria too Posh to push? (Get it? Ha ha.) Also noteworthy: Victoria and David Beckham have denied reports that they are naming their new daughter “Atlanta.” [Daily Mail UK]
  • Every issue of Playboy, dating back for the past 60 years, is now available on the iPad’s new iPlayboy app. In other words, it just got 700 percent more likely that you’re going to catch someone looking at porn when you don’t want to. [Mediabistro]

Style Stealer: Get On The Fringe Like Rashida Jones

Last week, Rashida Jones’ rocked one of my favorite looks at the Coach party benefitting the Children’s Defense Fund and I vowed to recreate it using wallet-friendly pieces. But if you do have some extra cash, consider dropping it on Rashida’s necklace — while searching for something comparable, I came across the one she’s actually wearing and, I gotta say, it’s gorgeous. Or, you know, don’t, and feel good that you got a similar-ish necklace for a tenth of the price! Keep reading »

Aaron Sorkin Responds To Critiques Of Misogyny In “The Social Network”

aaron sorkin photo

“The West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin is just like you—when he is pissed off about a blog post, he takes to the comments section! Sorkin, who wrote “The Social Network,” left a long comment on a blog post written by TV writer Ken Levine, who reviewed the movie. Another commenter, calling themselves Tarazza, posted a comment which said she loved the Facebook movie except for “the lack of a decent portrayal of women.” With the exception of Rashida Jones‘ character, Tarazza wrote, the women in the movie “were basically sex objects/stupid groupies,” adding “kinda makes me think that Aaron Sorkin (though I love his writing) failed the women in this script. Kind of a shame considering he’s written great women characters like C.J. Gregg!” (The female communications director on “The West Wing.”)

Sorkin then took to Ken Levine’s blog himself. Keep reading »

Quotable: Rashida Jones Doesn’t Think Men Have Advanced Since The Industrial Revolution

“I have a theory. I feel like women have come so far because of the sexual revolution, women’s lib, the feminist movement — we can work, we can nurture, we can be equal partners. Meanwhile, men haven’t really gone anywhere since the Industrial Revolution. Guys in my generation don’t have manners, really; they’re not gentlemen. It’s sad. The only thing they can do to feel powerful is to screw a bunch of people.”

Are You A Fan Of Anklets?

While flipping through the April issue of Elle, we learned that anklets and anklet heels are big right now. Lanvin (above left), Stuart Weitzman, and even Nine West incorporated anklets into shoes this spring, and dainty anklets got some attention in the magazine, too. The last time we considered wearing an anklet was probably back in the early ’90s. For the most part, they just look a little too tacky for our tastes, but even one of our favorite actresses, Rashida Jones (above right), sports one on a regular basis! Should we stop hating and embrace the anklet? Keep reading »

Rashida Jones Would Fit Right In On “Real Housewives Of New York City”

Rashida Jones stopped by Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” recently, and we were happy to learn she shares one of our passions: “The Real Housewives.” Watch the clip above to see how well Rashida imitates New York housewives Ramona Singer and Kelly Bensimon. Keep reading »

Hollywood Ladies + Obama Staffers = Romance?

If you’ve ever watched “Rock of Love,” you’re well aware that dating a rock star is passe. Ditto for athletes—who wants a dude whose bicep measurement is bigger than his IQ? No, there’s a new type of guy to lust after—Washington politicos. The Obama administration is ushering in a new throng of young, brilliant, and (dare we say) extremely hot politicians, and Hollywood’s leading ladies are taking notice. Rashida Jones, of “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation,” is currently dating President Obama’s chief speechwriter, Jon Favreau. Sure, he may be the one who drunkenly groped a Hillary Clinton cut-out during last year’s primary, but this dude is (a) adorable and (b) has one of the highest ranking jobs in the country even though he’s only 27. The couple made their first appearance at the White House Correspondents Dinner and have since been spotted cuddling at a hip Georgetown bar. [Celebitchy]

Then there’s “Private Practice” star Kate Walsh, who’s been getting cozy with Sean Smith, deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security. (You know he’s important because his title is so long.) The two were apparently “phone friends” for months, but recently went public. Sean reportedly sent her flowers the day after the Correspondents Dinner to thank her for being his date. Awww…sweet.

We hope other Hollywood ladies catch on. Here are a few more civil unions we have in mind. Keep reading »

Prop 8: The Musical

The passing of Prop 8, the California bill banning gay marriage, has been causing marches, rallies, debates, and now it’s even spawned a musical! With an all-star line up including John C. Reilly, Neil Patrick Harris, Kathy Najimy, Rashida Jones, Maya Rudolph, Margaret Cho, Andy Richter, and Jack Black as Jesus, here’s hoping jazz hands can stop the hate. Even if you aren’t famous and you can’t sing and dance, your voice still needs to be heard, so if you want to do your part, Join The Impact. [Funny Or Die] Keep reading »
