There’s no good reason to cheat on your significant other and we promise we are not condoning it by any means, but some reasons for stepping out on a relationship are more, let’s say, justifiable than others — like, if he was cheating on you…with a goat. According to a new, not-super-scientific survey from a dating website for extramarital affairs, many women’s motivations for cheating are completely and totally outrageous. In fact, some of the reasons women cited for straying from their partners were so banal that we felt compelled to make a quiz to see if you could guess the real ridiculous cheating excuse from the ones we made up. Test your BS cheat-o-meter after the jump! Keep reading »

Last week, which will forever be remembered as the best week of my “90210″-loving life, Ian Ziering came by The Frisky offices, begged me for a lap dance, and then submitted himself to my “How Well Does Steve Sanders Know Steve Sanders?” quiz. The current Chippendales hunk was totally game to let me test his knowledge of his infamous character — which, no big deal, I wrote from memory — and, despite the many years it’s been since he filmed the show, he did pretty damn good. Off camera, he tested my knowledge as well. I got most of his questions right (um, who doesn’t know that the name of Brandon’s first car was Mondale?), but he managed to stump me with: “What was the name of Dylan and Toni’s cat?” (Trouble, sigh. Should have known that one!) Watch Ian take my quiz and tell us how well you did in the comments!
I watch a lot of reality TV. It’s a secret shame that I can’t share with my boyfriend, who is generally mega-tolerant of my TV preferences, but just cannot hang with “The Real Housewives of Douche Town” or whatever. I can respect that. It’s terrible stuff, really — an entire TV culture built around ridiculing the rich (or sort of rich) to make us feel better about ourselves. Or showing us how people who make duck whistles live, or the dark side of the pawn business. Did you ever know you needed to know these things? Because, yeah. Things certainly have changed since “The Real World: New York.” But I still love it.
With that in mind, PBS came up with a pithy new ad campaign, designed to make you really question what “reality” that reality TV is presenting. They’ve created a series of fake TV shows posted alongside the phrase “The fact that you thought was a real TV show says a lot about the state of TV.” So with that in mind, we’ve got a test for you. Can you tell which of these is a real TV show and which is part of PBS’s campaign? No cheating! Keep reading »
A friend turned us on to the fact that there are tons of people self-publishing e-books now, and more than a few self-published e-books that have made it to the top of the New York Times e-book bestseller list, a rather impressive feat, considering these books are largely published without any real public relations support. We took a look at the e-book list and picked a bunch of our fave titles and synopses — and then we came up with our own. Can you tell which is a New York Times bestseller and which is a totally made up title? Only seven of these are real, so mark your answers and then check back with us at 5 p.m. EST when we reveal the results! Keep reading »

We slather on tons of lotions and potions in order to get our skin glowing and gorgeous — and apparently women have been doing this since the beginning of time. Just ask Cleopatra’s eyeliner applier. But in the 1950s and ’60s, beauty treatments took a strangely Draconian turn. Our friends at Collectors Weekly dug up some of the most bizarre beauty devices from the era. We want to see if you can guess what women might have used them for. Take our quiz above!
Let’s kick this Monday off with a little game, shall we? Can you identify the famous female celeb … from behind? (Don’t worry, we are nothing if not equal opportunity objectifiers/brain teasers — the guy version is coming later this week!)
