The Muppets Do Queen And It Is Beautiful

It’s a well-known fact that Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” is one of the the hardest songs to sing and until this very second, I didn’t think anyone but my beloved Freddie Mercury could pull it off. I don’t know whose brilliant idea it was to have The Muppets sing this classic rock song, but they should be given a prize or a medal or perhaps be knighted by the Queen. I particularly like Beaker’s contribution — mee-mee-mee-mee! [via Buzzfeed] Keep reading »

Should Adam Lambert Be Queen’s Next Frontman?

You know that Queen song where they chant “no time for losers” really obnoxiously for, like, five minutes? Well Entertainment Weekly is suggesting the band make time for “American Idol” loser runner-up Adam Lambert. Since Queen’s lead singer, Paul Rodgers, recently peaced out the band, they need a replacement ASAP. And on the last episode of “Idol,” Kris Allen did a duet of Queen’s “Champions” with Lambert, and his flamboyancy totally reminded us of late Queen singer Freddie Mercury. EW says Adam “has the musical chops and stage presence vital to preserving Queen’s signature sound.” So, should Adam pick up the phone and call Queen, stat? Or should he concentrate on churning out his own tunes? [EW] Keep reading »

Princess Propaganda Giving Us The Runs

Last night I was watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians — in the episode, Khloe and Kourtney got pissed at Kim because she was buying a Bentley and acting like a big princess. Their retort was that Kim may be a princess, but that they, Kim and Kourtney, are queens. Ooh, snap, right? Then this morning we got this annoying press release in our email for a book called Princess Bubble, which seeks to show girls that being a princess in modern times does not mean being a damsel in distress, but rather “traveling the world, helping others, and finding ‘happily ever after’ even before she finds her Prince!” May we be the first to say BARF? Seriously, so over this women as princesses and queens nonsense. What happened to being a person? This isn’t progressive, even if the effing princess is “single and proud of it!” A Princess is still an a-hole in a poofy skirt, acting like she’s God’s gift to the universe. It’s still a horrible gender stereotype. Why aren’t there any books targeted at boys telling them how to be amazing princes? Because princes are worthless, that’s why. So can we please cut the Princess in Fairy Tale Land crap? Thanks! [PrincessBubble.com] Keep reading »

Fit For A Queen

There’s a new queen in England, and she’s got more poise than Her Majesty and more cleavage than Elton John. It’s 17-year-old, size 16 beauty queen Chloe Marshall! She’ll be strutting her stuff in the Miss England Pageant in July, but she’s already become a media darling. “What I am promoting is a healthy girl who looks after herself and doesn’t try to force her body to be something its not,” Chloe told Hello Magazine, which was excited to get her to slip into something less comfortable — the white rhinestone bikini she’ll be confidently wearing in the competition. Proudly flying in the face of skinny minnie pageant girls like the tragically dumb blonde Miss Teen South Carolina, Chloe is a refreshingly smart spokesmodel who is bravely going where no plus-size girl has gone before. This pretty warrior princess couldn’t be happier to show off her ambition. “It’s what I was born to do – posing for the camera. And as I keep saying, I love my body. People seem desperate to get me to say that I don’t, that deep down I’m not happy and would rather be thin, but the fact is I wouldn’t change myself at all.” We wouldn’t change a thing either, hot stuff!
