McQueen’s Puma Heels Might Actually Be Comfortable

Alexander McQueen may have become known as the designer with the most unwearable high heels, but perhaps we’ve forgotten about his great collaboration with Puma, which produced these edgy sneaker heels. We kinda dig! Check out the guy version (non-heeled, bien sûr) after the jump. What do you think? [OakNYC.com] Keep reading »

Puma’s “The Games We Play” Commercials Want You To Work It, Work It

Looking for a way to get motivated to exercise? This quirky commercial from Puma, part of their “The Games We Play” campaign, may just do it. In Michel Gondry-meets-Wes Anderson-style, a series of urban-dwelling women and men get their work-out on while showing fitness can be funky, as long as you do it to The Shag’s “Stop & Listen.” The spot is part of a series that includes golf, motorsports, and running variations. Hip and cute. We buy it. ['boards] Keep reading »

“Cheetahs,” The New Dumbass Label For “Older” Women Who Date

Apparently unaware that women of all ages have always enjoyed robust sex lives, The New York Observer introduces us to “cheetahs.” What’s a cheetah, you ask? They are 30-something single women — the younger nieces of the 40-something-and-up “cougars” — who are so desperate for sex and affection that they’ll prowl the bars, waiting to prey on unsuspecting victims. In fact, cheetahs will basically rape men, they’re so overcome by singledom lust!

New Puma iPhone App Has Women Stripping Down As The DOW Crashes?

I’m confused. What does a sportswear line have to do with the stock market? Puma is advertising its new line of bodywear for women with an iPhone app that shows women putting on and taking off Puma-branded clothing … as the DOW rises and falls? Here’s how it works. The Puma Index app — which will get you 20 percent off at Puma if you show it at the store — features three lovely models dressed in varying amounts of Puma gear. When the DOW rises, they put on more clothes; when the DOW falls … and falls … they strip down to reveal the Puma bodywear they have underneath. Oh, and they jump on trampolines. “We’ve seen a lot of branded applications and a lot of them play it too straight down the middle,” Antonio Bertone, Puma’s Chief Marketing Officer, told CNBC. “We thought that if we could do this right and have models take off clothes when the market was going down, this could really work.” So, in theory, app users want the market to crash, right? Because what would ultimately happen if it just kept going lower and lower? “They’ll be in their bra and underwear having a pillow fight.” Check out the video demonstrating how the app works, after the jump … [CNBC] Keep reading »

Sneak Peek: Hussein Chalayan For Puma

When athletic brand Puma recently took on high fashion designer Hussein Chalayan as creative director, it was clear that Puma’s future collections would up its taste level—Chalayan is known for being overtly edgy through dressing eccentric characters like Bjork as well as incorporating crazy hijinks into his designs like remote-controlled layers and LED lights. Here’s a first look at “Urban Mobility,” the first collaboration between Chalayan and Puma, due out next spring, and wow, is it ever high-fashion. Looks like you can count on track jackets with graphic details and creative construction as well as pared down sneakers. While this preview of the campaign makes the line look about as far from athletic wear as possible, we’d expect that in real life, the pieces do show off their functionality more. Question is: Would you want to go running in stuff like this? [HighSnobiety.com]

Jennifer Aniston Is A Puma

Jennifer Aniston will star in the upcoming film “Pumas,” directed by Wayne McClammy (yes, that is his name and it’s already funnier than this movie could ever be), about two thirtysomething women who make a habit of romancing younger men and “take a French skiing vacation that challenges their romantic expectations.” “Pumas,” for those not in the (lame-slang-term) know, are similar to “cougars” only younger by about a decade. Coincidentally, you may remember that Courteney Cox Arquette, Aniston’s bestie, is working on a TV show called “Cougar Town.” We’ve heard rumors that there’s been a rift between the pair, so could this be Jen’s way of stickin’ it to Court and being, like, “Nanana, I’m younger“? Whatevs, all I know is that both of these projects are going to be tragic. [Variety]

The Daily Hotness: Luke Wilson

While his nickname may be “One-Take Wilson”, Luke certainly makes us do a double take. He’s so casually fine, from his chiseled cheekbones to his laid back attitude, he can even pull off being in love with his (adopted) sister in The Royal Tenenbaums and still make us swoon. But Luke, aka Richie “Baumer” Tenenbaum, doesn’t just play athletes on the big screen, he’s quite the sportsman in real life too. In college, he was a track and field star before he even wanted to be in movies. Recently featured in Golf Digest as one of the Top 40 golfers in Hollywood, the magnetic man we wanna bring home to mama is now even more up to par. In addition to being a talented actor, director and writer, the stylish leading man is designing a new set of sophisticated sportswear for Puma. His line, which will hit stores in April, will be an homage to 50’s country club leisurewear. Although we’re sure the clothes will make the man even more classically dashing, we secretly wish they were see through. But that’s not very functional. Keep reading »
