There’s a country-wide strike going on in Spain right now, against the government’s austerity cuts. And one surprising group that’s participating: the country’s prostitutes, who say they won’t have sex with the country’s bankers until they “fulfill their responsibility to society” and begin offering better loans to struggling Spaniards. 

The initiative was put into place by Madrid’s prostitute trade association, which claims, “We are the only ones with a real ability to pressure the sector.” The strike has been on for four days, and said one participating prostitute, “We don’t think they can withstand much more.” Keep reading »

Jason Biggs, we hardly knew ya. The “American Pie” actor (seriously, is he known for anything else?) is having his dirty laundry aired by none other than his own lovely wife, Jenny Mollen. Mollen wrote an essay for the Playboy owned website, The Smoking Jacket, revealing how she and Biggs hired a prostitute for his birthday.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi Calls German Chancellor Angela Merkel “Unf***able”

Wow, the tale of Italian prime minster Silvio Berlusconi keeps getting more and more sordid. This week, Italian prosecutors have charged eight people with sending prostitutes to Berlusconi’s infamous Bunga Bunga parties. The leader of the prostitution ring is one Giampaolo Tarantini, who is also being investigated for blackmailing Berlusconi in exchange for keeping his mouth closed about what went down. Currently, investigators are pouring over transcripts of conversations captured via wiretap, and are finding all sorts of scandalous details. Like that a famous Italian actress was allegedly offered a high profile national television gig if she’d sleep with Berlusconi. And in another phone conversation, between Berlusconi and a newspaper editor, Berlusconi is rumored to say that German chancellor Angela Merkel is “an unf**kable fat a**.” Yes, really.

And therein lies a big problem.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn Allegedly Hired Prostitutes From The Same Madam As Eliot Spitzer

Rich men get their ties from Brooks Brothers, their cars from Maybach, and, apparently, their $1,200-an-hour call girls from madam Kristin Davis. Like his predecessor in public shaming, Eliot Spitzer, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the head of the International Monetary Fund who resigned Wednesday night after he was accused of sexually assaulting a New York City hotel maid last weekend, allegedly hired prostitutes from Wicked Models to keep him warm at night. (Or, just for an hour.) Madam Kristin Davis said Strauss-Kahn used her services in January 2006, requesting an “all-American girl” and paying $2,400 for two hours of her time. “He paid in cash,” Davis told the Times of London. “The first girl I sent to him said he was aggressive and didn’t want to be back with him again.” Davis claims Strauss-Kahn also hired a Brazilian prostitute in September 2006 while in New York City for a conference with Bill Clinton. Today’s Lady News: Afghan TV Show Says Shelters Force Women Into Prostitution

  • A multi-part Afghan television series has accused women’s shelters in Afghanistan of being brothels — even ones registered with the government. The 27-year-old TV host, Nasto Nadiri, is running for Parliament in September and is a critic of women’s rights campaigns, especially when affiliated with international NGOs. [Wall Street Journal]
  • Maria Teresa de Nicolo, a former prostitute, has told a corruption inquiry that Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi gave her gifts the night she shared his bed with two women. De Nicolo said that she and about 15 other women were invited guests at a private dinner for the prime minister and everyone received jewelry. [Guardian UK]
  • Iran has rejected an asylum offer from Brazil for a woman sentenced to death by hanging. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani was convicted of adultery in 2006 and originally sentenced to death by stoning. [CNN]

OK, makers of “Bonetown,” you win: we will draw more attention to your racist, sexist, morally depraved video game by writing about it.

“Bonetown” touts itself as “the world’s first action adventure porno video game,” but it’s more like thoughts from the internet’s most ignorant trolls set to animation. You know, the trolls who think racism and sexism have been “solved” so it’s really hilarious to perpetuate stereotypes about minorities and women. It’s unclear what the game part of “Bonetown” actually is, which is actually why it’s scary. No, they’re not prostitutes, but if you haven’t heard their names already, that’s only because there’s so damn many of them out there these days. From Vegas “nightlife hostess” and Tiger Woods paramour Rachel Uchitel to Manhattan clubs’ so-called “bottle hookers,” it seems that if you want to get your name in the Post these days, it’s not about being a socialite, it’s sure not about having talent, and you don’t even have to have slept with an elected official. All you need to do is have sex with or use your sexuality to hustle the right guy, and not only are you a player in the “21st century courtesan economy,” thanks to the internet, everybody will know your name.
