Isaac told his girlfriend to meet him at his parents’ house for dinner. When she arrived, she was instructed to take a seat in the back of an open SUV and put on a pair of headphones. Sixty friends, a choreographed dance, six marching band uniforms, four laptops, and one bended knee later, and (spoiler alert!) she said yes. Dramatic proposals don’t usually get to me, but I definitely teared up by the end of this. So sweet. [Vimeo]

Where Did Public Proposals Come From?

Out of all the women who got engaged last year and posted themselves on TheKnot.com, 43 percent received a public proposal, ranging from the guy who filmed a movie trailer to the one who painted a mural in New York’s East Village popping the questions. This led Slate.com to wonder: how did this whole concept come to be? Keep reading »

Did You Like Your Proposal?

According to The Knot, one out of four women surveyed were not satisfied with the way their S.O. proposed to them. Complaints about their proposals included that it wasn’t romantic or original enough, that it was too over-the-top, or that the dude came to the party sans ring. I would predict that these 25 percent also turned out to be the most irritating of bridezillas. A proposal is just a moment and sometimes moments don’t go as planned. The point is the lifelong commitment you’re entering into, right? But what do I know, I’ve never been in a proposal situation. How about you? Were you satisfied with the way your proposal went? The Most Unromantic Marriage Proposal I Can Think Of

This dude really outdid himself with this Facebook marriage proposal. His mother must be so proud. What’s next? A flair ring posted on her wall? If someone proposed to me that way, I would immediately unfriend them. But Breeze seems to dig it. Who names their kid Breeze by the way? [BuzzFeed] Keep reading »

Bret Michaels “Feels Awesome” About Getting Engaged

“In my mind, it wasn’t supposed to happen like that — I wanted it to be a little more like the movies, where the white horse gallops up and all that stuff. But when Kristi said, ‘I don’t need this ring, I don’t need the piece of paper, I love you no matter what,’ she took the pressure off. She used reverse psychology on me, and it worked! … They swore I was the guy who would never, and it feels awesome.”

Bret Michaels talks about finally proposing to Kristi Gibson, his on-and-off girlfriend for the past 16 years and the mother of his children, on the balcony of their house, in the season finale of “Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.” I guess this means no more seasons of “Rock of Love”? Dear Wendy: “My Family Thinks I’m Living In Sin”

I am a 23-year-old, self-supporting college grad and my boyfriend and I have lived together for four months. We love each other very much, are happy together and everything is going great. But there is one problem. My mother and much of my family is extremely conservative and this would be qualified as “living in sin.” I see nothing wrong with my choice as it makes me happy, it’s a healthy relationship, etc., but I fear I would cause a large rift in the relationship with my mother, with whom I’m very close, if she knew or found out. But keeping it a secret is causing a problem in my relationship with my boyfriend and I know he is hurt by it. I feel like I need to do something, but I fear destroying a relationship with my family. Any advice on what to do? — Live-in Love
