Set your alarms for Sunday at midnight! The Prabal Gurung collection goes on sale then and it’s a doozy! Seriously, I was pretty much over these designer collaborations because they’d had, for the most part, gotten really cheap and crappy looking, like the designers were phoning it in since they knew the items would sell like hotcakes regardless. But the massive Prabal Gurung collection for Target has won me over — I’m loving nearly everything, from the bright florals to the short hemlines to the chic and unique accessories. Best of all, everything is majorly affordable. Click through to see the entire lookbook, with prices, so you can plan your shopping spree accordingly…
Saturday marks the third day of New York Fashion Week — and featured shows from Kate Spade, Rebecca Minkoff, Prabal Gurung and tons of others. While we were less than excited about the offerings at Charlotte Ronson (sort of tepid florals in a muted shades), Cushnie et Ochs collection of white, magenta and blue dresses thrilled. Check them out — several other shows from fashion week’s third day, after the jump! Keep reading »
We’ve always been a little jealz of Sephora employees, mostly because they get to spend their days surrounded by all the makeup, beauty products and skincare items a girl could ever want. And, for some reason, perhaps in homage to the King of Pop, they wear only one glove. For now anyway, as there’s another awesomely cool thing Sephora employees (the “cast” of the store) have that nobody else will be able to get their grimy little fingers on: staff uniforms designs by Prabal Gurung. You’re going to be seeing a whole heck of a lot more Miss Piggy soon. That’s because she’s got a big role in the newest Muppets movie (out this November). In it, she plays a high-powered editor at French Vogue – and she has the wardrobe to match. In a new spread for InStyle, Miss Piggy was outfitted in the finest garments from designers like Prabal Gurung, Jason Wu and Brian Atwood. “Her humor, flamboyance and joie de vivre inspired me to design a decadent feathered dress that features her most sensational qualities,” said Wu. I ran into MAC makeup artist and our Kiki T‘s pal Stevie Huynh backstage at Nepalese designer Prabal Gurung’s show, and I can’t think of any prettier makeup I’ve seen so far. Stevie was all about creating the most gorgeous skin to match Prabal’s time of the Android aesthetic, and he really did create an otherworldly look. He used MAC Strobe Liquid to build glowing, iridescent complexions on the models –”I’m going for a hyper-real quality,” he said — then blended MAC Pigments in Vanilla and White for super pronounced highlights on their foreheads and cheekbones. The finishing touch? A Cherry Lip Pencil with red powder pigment patted on top.
Bumble and Bumble hairstylist Jimmy Paul wanted the hair to be “aggressive, scary and shocking,” so he used Bumble’s Holding Spray to tease hair into smooth, sculptural faux-hawks. The whole futuristic angle must have made sense for “Avatar” star Zoe Saldana, whom we spotted perched in the front row. A closer look, after the jump … Keep reading »
Prabal Gurung showed his first collection in February (before that he was design director at Bill Blass), but his name is on everyone’s tongue this season. Not only was he quoted in today’s New York Times article about getting into the fashion biz, but Rachel Zoe tweeted last night that she was wearing one of his designs. We got to peek backstage as the models were getting prepped for the show, where it was all about bringing out the inner bitch. Keep reading »
