Raquel Welch On Pole Dancers, Brazilian Waxes & Feminism

raquel welch photo

“I guess you could call [my views on sex and relationships] conservative. I think there is a lost art to being a woman. … I have this romantic part to my nature and maybe that’s why I find it difficult when I see this kind of vulgar approach to women today. I think there’s too much homage being paid to pole dancers, let’s put it that way. I mean I’m all for body beautiful but my God there’s a head attached. Can we use that too? Come on girls!”

— ’60s bombshell Raquel Welch might have been an international sex symbol, but she is actually quite horrified at what she sees as over-sexualization of women today. After the jump, Raquel gives PopEater a piece of her mind about Brazilian bikini waxes and why the ’60s feminist movement was “uncharitable” — i.e. dismissive — towards her. Keep reading »

Penthouse Launches 3D Porn Channel In Europe

Damn, Europe gets all the good stuff, like a Wii game about spanking and much-anticipated 3D porn. Waaaahhh! Yesterday Penthouse, the esteemed shameless smut rag, launched a high definition 3D channel, which runs from 11 p.m to 5 a.m. and promises 30 hours of new hardcore and softcore pornography a month. Hustler is expected to launch a 3D adult channel later this month as well … which probably means Charlie Sheen will never leave the house ever again. I never though I would say this, Penthouse and Hustler, but thank you.

Will MTV’s “Skins” Run Afoul Of Child Porn Laws?

I smell a publicity stunt: MTV is worried future episodes of “Skins,” its new show about the hormone-laden escapades of a posse of Baltimore teens, will run afoul of child pornography laws because of too much sexxxy sex. “Skins,” which debuted on Monday, is an Americanized version of a popular show in Britain; however, the UK — and Europe in general — have much more liberal attitudes towards sexuality, especially in youngsters. Most of the actors or non-actors on MTV’s scripted programs or reality shows are adults over the age of 18. However, some of the actors on “Skins” are as young as 15 and acting out sexual acts onscreen could, by some interpretations of the laws, be seen as trying to arouse viewers. (Granted, I’m not an expert on the laws regarding this subject.) Keep reading »

Will A Porn Company Save Octomom From Foreclosure?

Octomom has as many problems as she has kids. Her house is nearing foreclosure and she and her 14 tots might be kicked out if she cannot come up with money for a $450,000 note. Enter Steve Hirsch of Vivid Entertainment, circling like a vulture. Hirsch is in talks with Nadya Suleman’s landlords to assume some of the debt and told TMZ, “This would be a great opportunity to begin a relationship with Octomom.” In other words, to exploit her weakness for the company’s own financial gain. Klassy! To her credit, Vivid previously offered Suleman $1 million to appear in a skin flick, as well as a gig as a production assistant and an invite to co-host a party at the porn industry’s AVN awards, and she rebuffed all offers. She does have some standards, you know. Although I really, really do not understand Vivid’s fascination with this woman. If there’s someone whose va-jay-jay I am not interested in seeing, it’s a woman who has popped out 14 kids. [TMZ.com] [TMZ.com] Keep reading »

Today’s Lady News: Should Adult Film Stars Be Required To Use Protection?

  • News broke last week that an adult film star had tested positive for HIV. But adult film actress Madison Young tells Salon.com’s Broadsheet blog that requiring actors to wear condoms would be “a mistake.” Why? [Salon]
  • An employee at Eddie Long’s mega-church in Atlanta has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the church. She claims a male employee showed her a photograph of a penis on a cell phone and that she was punished for reporting the incident. [Essence]
  • Full episodes of the web series “Vag Magazine” are now online! This weekend I watched five straight episodes of this spoof on feminists who take themselves very, very seriously while running a politically correct magazine called Vag. [VagMagazine.tv]

Frisky Q&A: Adult Film Star Ryan Keely

For all the sex positive writing that I do, I’d never actually talked with someone who worked in the adult entertainment industry for a living. Like a lot of people, I just assumed they all were failed actresses and cokeheads.

That was unfair of me.

Over the summer, I met up with Ryan Keely, an adult film star, Penthouse Pet and Penthouse advice columnist, and an erotic dancer. Ryan, who is originally from Seattle, is as smart as she is beautiful; it’s clear from spending time with her that her heart lies in bringing the joy of sexuality and sensuality to others. Recently, Ryan has been teaching seminars for Porn Star Sex Life, co-founded with Josh Rosenberg, a pick-up artist who created UpYourAttraction.com. I was a little skeptical, too, of Porn Star Sex Life classes. Generally speaking, I think porn gives us stupid role models. The actors and actresses fake great sex and know how to make it look really awesome on screen. Why would we want to emulate that? But Ryan is an approachable educator: she’s had a lot of sex with a lot of partners, both men and women, both onscreen and off, and she is ashamed of nothing. “What it takes to be a porn star is you want to explore your sexuality,” she told me. “The people that are in this industry for the right reasons are people are want to take sex to the next level. We’re sexual athletes.”

I walked away from an afternoon of cake and milk with Ryan thinking, “Damn, I want this girl to be my best friend and I want to sleep with her.” After the jump, Ryan opens up about why missionary is the best sex position for women, her stance on sex positive feminism, why she hates KY Jelly, and her one-woman campaign to bust sexual taboos! The Anti-Porn Men Project: Dudes Take A Stand Against Violent Porn

If aliens landed and took stock of pop culture from the past decade, they might conclude that men on Earth are boobie-crazed sex beasts enslaved by their own desires, and that pornography is as essential to a man’s life as air. Two male activists are seriously troubled by the ubiquity of porn in Western men’s lives, the degradation of and violence against women in porn, and how they believe the objectification of women warps men’s minds. Earlier this month, Matt McCormack Evans and Jonathan Wragg started The Anti-Porn Men Project, an online space where they hope to have an educational discussion with other dudes about pornography, separate from the one still burning — albeit faintly — among mostly ’60s- and ’70s-era feminists. What Is “Bubbling” And What Does It Have To Do With Porn?

What do you do if you’re horny but your strict religious faith forbids both premarital sex and looking at porn? You use Photoshop. According to BuzzFeed, one Mormon man has found a loophole where he takes photos of women in bikinis and blocks the sexy parts of a woman’s body, which he calls “bubbling.” After the jump, see the photo pre-bubbling: Keep reading »

AIDS Group Files Complaint Against Larry Flynt Over Condom-less Porn

AIDS activists have filed a workplace safety complaint against Hustler honcho Larry Flynt over the amount of condom-less sex in all of his skin flicks. On Thursday, activists descended upon Los Angeles’ Division of Occupational Safety and Health office with 100 DVDs to show that only one scene in one porno showed a performer using a condom. Condoms, of course, help protect against the spread of HIV. Keep reading »
