I’ve been with my boyfriend — my first boyfriend — for almost two years now. I am away from home at school, only an hour and half drive away, and we see each other every weekend. Then it dawned on me that he had not spilled something on the floor … if you know what I mean … So, I checked my history and found even more porn sites. According to the timeline of the days’ events, I know he looked at this right after I left for class, so right when he woke up and got out of bed.

Is Porn A Relationship Dealbreaker?

My mother and many of her second-wave feminist peers view pornography as an institutional ill that is degrading to women and damaging to developing sexuality. She believes that the camera-ready angles, waxed and plastic body parts and pervasive depiction of extreme acts as “normal” distort human sexuality and give young porn-viewers a whole bunch of false and dangerous expectations.

My mom is a smart lady, and she’s not wrong. While I agree that some porn (okay, most of it) fits the bill she describes as damaging, I don’t find the filming and viewing of sex acts as objectively offensive. In other words, I think that porn is not inherently problematic, but its content often includes problematic ideas and attitudes.   • Vivid Entertainment has withdrawn its offer to Casey Anthony to star in a porn. In a statement, the CEO said:
    “It has become obvious to us that Vivid fans, and people in general, want nothing to do with her and that includes a XXX movie. We want to make movies that people want to watch and we now believe that we underestimated the emotional response that people are having to the verdict. A movie starring Casey Anthony is not what people want to see.”

    Sigh. If only the American public felt the same way about Octomom. [ONTD]

Inmate Says No Porn In Jail Is Cruel And Unusual Punishment

How do you make a criminal really suffer? A 21-year-old jailbird in Michigan has filed a lawsuit against the governor for violating his civil rights in the most inhumane way possible: no porn. Kyle Richards is locked up at Macomb County Jail, where all pornography is in violation of the rules. What cruel and unusual punishment! Now he is suing over “poor standard of living” and “sexual and sensory deprivation,” according to his court filing. “Such living conditions have been used as a method of ‘psychological warfare’ against prisoners, in order to both destroy the morale of inmates and break the spirit of individuals.” Richards also wants personal televisions, video game consoles, and radios, which suggests to me that someone needs to explain to him the definition of “punishment.” Lucky for him, Playboy and Penthouse magazines are allowed in Michigan prisons, said a corrections spokesman. Considering he plead guilty to a burglary in January and should be sentenced in August, this guy should just be a little more patient. Good luck with getting that Xbox console, though.

Playboy Club Opens In London And Feminists Say “Eff Off Hef”

Perhaps is not such exciting news now that we live in an era when 8th graders go to Hooters on a field trip, but a new Playboy Club opened this weekend in Mayfair, London. Hugh Hefner first brought a Playboy Club to London in 1966, but it closed after 15 years. The new Playboy Club in London features “bunnies” ages 19 to 40 who’ll work in either the cocktail lounge or the casino while they wear Playboy’s iconic bunny costumes. And if men’s enthusiasm to visit the Playboy Club in any way rivals women’s enthusiasm to work for it, Hef won’t have to worry: 3,000 women competed for 80 positions to don a Playboy Bunny tail!

An Osama bin Laden porn is something the al-Qaeda top dog would have appreciated, said Hustler’s Video Director of Operations Rob Smith. “We’re pretty sure from what we’ve heard that bin Laden was a big fan of Hustler,” Smith said.
