Is Google Hiding Porn On Image Search?

We’re sure none of our esteemed readers would ever use Google’s wholesome Image Search to find filthy pictures of naked people committing depraved acts. But on the off chance that you do, you might notice that it’s a little harder to find what you’re looking for. Google yesterday implemented a change in its SafeSearch settings that some users are complaining is filtering out porn. “What is this? communism?! BRING BACK THE PORN!” one Reddit user complained yesterday. Read more…

Porn Stars Have Higher Self-Esteem Than You

Just when you thought you’ve heard everything, a new study published in the Journal of Sex Research finds that adult film actresses report higher levels of confidence and self-esteem than your average woman. If this news seems a little hard to swallow (sorry, we went there), it’s because it is.

Until now, it’s been a pretty widely held belief that adult film actresses are emotionally damaged — the product of childhood sexual abuse, among other horrible things. But research conducted on 177 porn actresses and a control group of women with similar socioeconomic backgrounds suggests otherwise. Read more…

Confession: I Have A Favorite Male Porn Star And His Name Is Manuel Ferrara

I am a gal who enjoys watching porn. I have since I was a teen and used to put my ear up to the television speaker, volume real low so my parents couldn’t hear, listening to the moans and groans coming from the picture garbled Spice Channel. Nowadays, I get my porn for free online; I’m usually pretty whatever about what I watch — I click around until I find something that strikes me as hot (the actors or “real people” seem genuine, there isn’t a lot of annoying storyline, etc.) and hunker down for 5-10 minutes of self-lovin’. Until recently, I hadn’t really understood the notion of having a favorite porn star. With so many porn videos available on the web, how do you even keep track of who’s who? And, really, porn stars have never struck me as particularly compelling, especially the male stars, many of whom are really, really unattractive, their only attributes being, well, you know.

That is, however, until I came across Manuel Ferrara. Keep reading »

”[P]aparazzi can’t get a picture of me doing anything interesting. I’m untouchable. Here’s James Deen peeing in public, making out with a girl in a bar, drunk and puking. Yeah, I’m a porn star. What do you expect?”

– James Deen talks to Interview about his non-pornography role in “The Canyons” with Lindsay Lohan. When asked about paparazzi hounding the set, he admits they “sometimes haven’t been respectful” to Lindsay. Glad to hear he’s not being hounded by paparazzi … but doesn’t Lindsay do all those things, too? [Interview Magazine] [Photo: Interview]

“You’re dealing with a small community of people that is engaging in sexual activity with one another, and we’re all regularly tested, in addition to the fact that we have a database that has everybody’s tests on file to verify this for whoever it is that’s showing up with the test results is actually tested and those test results are accurate. So it eliminates the faking of tests or any sort of things like that … You also have to remember, adult films are not real sex. It’s entertainment. So just because we’re engaging in physical sex doesn’t mean it is normal sex. We’re going to be—to be crude, you have women being pounded by large or above-average-size penises for a nonstandard amount of time. For hours. From anywhere from 30 minutes to up to three hours or more. So now you add latex into that, the ultimate probability of friction burn, vaginal and anal tears, and things like that. And when you’re dealing with something with an 87 percent safety rate, you’re going to now have a higher probability of transmitting any sort of STD or STI because you now have more issues in addition to that … if I’m going to go do a condom-only scene, and my fellow performer is not tested. I’m not going to do the scene. I trust a test from somebody that is being regularly tested on a regular basis that is in my industry. I trust that test more than I trust a condom.”

– James Deen speaks out against California’s recently passed Measure B, which will require all adult industry performers to wear condoms while filming. You should read Deen’s entire interview with The Daily Beast to get a fuller understanding of the issue, but his explanation makes a lot of sense. He’s concerned that the condom measure will replace the safety testing measures in place for the porn industry. I can understand how this could be scary for the adult film industry. Pat Robertson: Wait, Women Like Porn?!

You are never going to believe this, dear readers, but some women like porn—a bit of news that came as a major shock to Pat Robertson. “I mean, the thing that shocks me—shocks me—we always thought this was a male thing. A boy thing. A guy thing,” Robertson says in a cringe-worthy “700 Club” clip spotted by Right Wing Watch and The New York Post.

“While most people think of pornography as something men struggle with, a third of the millions of Americans who watch porn are … women! And they’re getting addicted to it!” Roberston went on, as his female co-host strove valiantly to pretend that she, too, was shocked by this revelation. Read more…

Turn Of The Century Porn

What we consider “erotic” has changed drastically since the turn of the century. In the late-1800s/early-1900s, all it took was some cleavage and a book to make people blush. If only it was still that easy! Reading is still sexy, but unfortunately, not remotely pornographic. Click through to see what was risque back in the day. [izismile]

6 Pioneering Female Porn Stars

Among life’s many distinctions, there is one that is a truly elite club that many of us will only dream of joining: the first porn start to do ___.  Somebody has to be the first — think about i! Last we learned that “erotic actress” Sylvia Kristel, who appeared in the 1974 French film “Emmanuelle,” had died of cancer at age 60. She wasn’t just any “erotic actress,” though: Sylvia Kristel was heralded by none other than People magazine as “arguably the world’s first true porn star.” “Emmanuelle” is about the wife of a diplomat living in Bangkok and their many affairs and was one of the first films with sex in it to be shown in mainstream theaters.

So that got us thinking: which other pioneering porn stars deserve our accolades?
