“Spring Spheres” Instead Of “Easter Eggs?” Not So Fast

These two Fox News anchors are up in arms over this story straight outta the Pacific Northwest. “I can’t even say it,” says one anchor. “One Seattle elementary school is calling Easter eggs ‘spring spheres.’” She’s right that this is totally ridiculous because an Easter egg hunt is a part of, well, Easter and we wouldn’t start calling Christmas trees “Decemeber Evergreens” now would we? Her co-anchor makes another good point—that eggs aren’t actually sphere shaped.

However, the story they’re so fired up about may not even be true. Keep reading »

Why I Like Being Called A Slut In Bed

That's Dirty Talk?
Romantic dirty talk has no place in the bedroom. Read More »

I get called a “slut” all the time. My friend Ashley calls me a slut like it’s my name: “Slut!” The Frisky staff calls each other sluts when we divulge our sexual escapades. Internet commenting trolls call me a slut fairly regularly (and a “bitch”, and a c-word, and plenty of other foul things). I call myself a slut, like, say, last week when I hooked up with a dude on the first date. A lot of 20-something women are used to being called a slut in some area of their lives, in every situation from “haha, just kidding” with our friends or (cool) co-workers to more serious areas, like when it’s hurled at us by a catcaller. “Slut” is one of those female-centric words — like “bitch,” like “feminist” — that can mean so many things that it almost means nothing anymore. Except, it turns out, in bed. Keep reading »

Is Midget A Bad Word?

Okay, so names have always been a touchy subject in our society. Do you call someone Black or African-American? He-she or Transgender? Disabled or Physically Challenged? But when did midget become a disputed term? Apparently after an episode of “Celebrity Apprentice” aired. In it, contestants came up with a soap called, “Jesse James and the Midgets.” It sounded funny, but vertically-deficient folks were not laughing. Instead, they started calling the Federal Communications Commission, or FCC, in droves to have the word banned from television. So far the FCC has yet to issue a statement of action. [In the meantime, FYI: It's Little People. -- Editor] Should the FCC comply? Did you even know the M-word was considered offensive? [] Keep reading »

Are Men Turning Into Jerks?

According to Details, decades of feminism and political correctness have turned 21st century guys into total pigs. Because they’ve been forced to play Mr. Nice Guy and suppress their baser, manlier instincts for years, today’s men are starting to revert back to some of their less politically correct, more misogynist ways. Take, for example, “Dave”: “Dave, who was in college during the P.C. era of the early nineties, is part of a generation of men who have started to wonder why they’ve been so damn well-behaved all these years — and are now letting their long-repressed roguish instincts run free.” When Dave’s not busy being married and “co-parenting” his kids, he’s sneaking off to massage parlors for “happy endings.” What it means to be a man is no longer clear, and that’s causing a return to traditionalism. (Think Don Draper incarnate.) Tired of “Yes, Dear”-ing their wives, these guys are saying to hell with all that. (Take, for example, Guy Ritchie.) So what do you think? Are men regressing into jerkhood? [Details] Keep reading »
