The Fashion Peacekeepers: Pink

Splash News

Sometimes we feel like Us Weekly‘s “The Fashion Police” and other similar style critics can be a tad harsh. Also, they tend to have these really boring, conservative styles and we have to wonder what their real fashion credentials are. (Case in point: US Weekly‘s “Top Cops” include random comedian Stefanie Novik and Chet Cannon of “The Real World, Brooklyn.” When did they ever go to design school!?) The Fashion Peacekeepers are here to say, hey, can’t everyone’s styles just get along?

Pink has a fierce new trapeze act in her new show (here in L.A.), and, on one hand, she is simply attempting to rock a trend that is so hot right now: After all, celebs just love to wear pasties! Rihanna does a great job with her Nippies, but as much as we look at the positives here, we’re afraid we just can’t help you out Pink. If you get arrested, don’t come crying to us to bail you out. (Oh wait, here’s another look on the bright side: By outfitting your own breast with a heart shape, you’ve saved us precious minutes in the day so we don’t have to Photoshop one on top of this pic. Thanks!)

Quick Pic: Nice Camel Toe, Pink

Pink

I like Pink, but this outfit is freaky, and I don’t mean that in a good way. The whole things just screams: “Look at my camel toe, people! My ace bandaged, glittery camel toe!” That is not a message that I want my clothes to telegraph. But maybe that’s why I’m not on the stage like a rock star, no? It’s kind of Cirque de Soleil meets “The Fifth Element.” It is also totally hideous. If you would like to check out a more up-close-and-personal shot of this business, dare to look after the jump. Pink Product Overload: This Is What Women Want?

pink products

Juicy Couture recently unleashed a new “female-friendly” bubblegum pink keyboard cover that goes perfectly with my Malibu Barbie. Now, Memorex is coming out with its own for women, by women electronics line that will incorporate “stylish designs’ and be easy to use. Because according to Kasia van Hall of Memorex, “even if women are up-to-date with technology, they simply don’t have the energy to read long instructions [they probably won’t understand] and play with cables.”

So, how exactly will these new products appeal to women? Well, they’ll be pink, and shaped like purses! What a relief. I was really having trouble figuring out how to use my white, rectangular speakers. Fitting its plug into an outlet is much too confusing for my female brain to handle!

The new line of products is inspired by a survey Memorex conducted, in which a reported 70 percent of women said they feel ignored by the consumer electronics market. I’m pretty sure that’s not because the products aren’t pink; marketers are determined to believe otherwise.

But as we’ve seen before, with offensive ad campaigns such as the one for “Della,” (a website “for the ladies” that is great for “finding recipes,” “counting calories,” “shopping,” and “tech tips”), companies just can’t seem to figure out what women want. While they work on figuring it out, we’ve compiled the top 10 gag-worthy gadgets that are perfect for pink-loving princesses, and no one else.

Poll: Can Guys Pull Off Hot Pink?

Figleaves.com Hot pink: it's not just for gay men and Paris Hilton anymore. The Wall Street Journal promises "man-genta" (hot pink to us ladies) will be everywhere on this fall's menswear. Sure, dudes like Kanye and Perry Farrell can own hot pink, but we think if Eminem attempted the trend, he'd look like an ass.
What do you think—can all guys pull off hot pink?

Gallery:The Worst Celeb Summer Fashion

It’s warm out. We’re schvitzing a little. But we, unlike some people we watch from a distance, have not taken the heat as an excuse to go completely insane in the wardrobe department. Because no, everything does not become okay just ‘cause it’s hot out. Learn from these celebs’ mistakes…

Shorts that short, Pam Anderson, are not actually shorts. They are tightie-whities.

Elle MacPherson

Model Elle MacPherson admits she changed her name to sound more glamorous. Eleanor Nancy Gow wasn’t going to look good on a magazine cover, a lingerie label, or the credits of her upcoming TV show. When you’re six feet tall, you can do what you want. No one is going to question you! A lot of other stars felt the same way Elle did and changed their names as they embarked on the road towards fame and fortune. Let’s turn back time and see who has faked it to make it.

Pink And Carey Hart Are Back Together. “So What” And Other Break-Up-To-Make-Up Songs.

Ain’t love grand? Even though Pink wrote an entire album about her split from motorcross bad ass Carey Hart, and even dissed him to his face in her “So What” video, the pair is now happily back together and even renewed their vows in Australia this week. Pink is on tour promoting Funhouse, i.e. the breakup record. “It’s funny to sing those songs now,” says Pink. “He’s in the audience, so when I sing ‘He’s a tool,’ now that’s my favorite line. I’m like, ‘Hi honey, that’s you!’” Awkward.

Oh, but Pink isn’t the only rock star to totally diss a former lovah in a song, only to take their ex back. It’s as if money, power, readily available groupies, and an entire world cheering their empowerment on isn’t enough. After the jump, the most egregious examples.

Please Retire The Circus/Carnival Concert Theme

    Pink's Funhouse Tour
(From left to right): Pink’s “Funhouse” tour; Madonna’s “Sticky & Sweet” tour; Britney Spears’ “Circus” tour

Pink surprisingly jumped on the circus-themed concert bandwagon with her “Funhouse” tour costumes. When a wannabe badass like Pink starts jumping on a trend, it’s time to retire it. So, we implore these concert producers to stop with the three-ring, freak show madness. Even Katy Perry refused to do the circus thing for a recent concert, saying, “That’s really being done by a lot of people right now.”

Is Pink The New Black For Men?

    Dolce and Gabbana pink suit

For the most part, men have three color choices when it comes to suits: black, gray, and navy blue. They’ve been able to expand their shirt and tie options from the traditional white, blue, white and blue striped, and white and blue checked over the years, and perhaps the increase in popularity of golf and other country club sports made it more common for men to wear pale pink and purple shirts and ties. Pink has become a much more acceptable color for guys than it was just a few years ago, and it might soon be as acceptable as it was in the early 1900s.

Suits in practically fluorescent shades of pink came down the runways at the Fall 2009 Dolce & Gabbana show, the Spring 2009 Givenchy and Calvin Klein shows. And Refinery 29 spotted men wearing the neon shade on men outside fashion shows, too. Most guys I know probably won’t be suiting up in hot pink for work, but celebs like Kanye West and Pete Wentz would definitely throw one on for a premiere or a party. And I have a feeling we’re going to start seeing men wear this color a whole lot more often, even if only on their socks.

    Pink: The Color For Boys?

Why Pink Is A Color For Girls

Pink equals girl, blue equals boy. That’s the widespread association with those two colors, but it wasn’t always that way. In the early 1900s, blue was for girls and pink was for boys. Back then, the British magazine Women’s Journal explained: “That pink being a more decided and stronger colour, is more suitable for the boy, while blue, which is more delicate and dainty, is prettier for the girl.” DressMaker magazine agreed. “The preferred colour to dress young boys in is pink. Blue is reserved for girls as it is considered paler, and the more dainty of the two colours, and pink is thought to be stronger (akin to red).” No one knows when the change took place, but by the time Adolf Hitler was in power, the switch had been made, as he labeled homosexuals with a pink triangle, which associated them with femininity. Quote Of The Day: Pink’s Bittersweet Success

Quote From Pink About So What's Success

“It feels very confusing. It’s bittersweet. It’s funny, it’s empowering, it’s ‘Screw you,’ it’s all of that. It’s amazing to be number one but it’s ironic that it took [Carey Hart and I] breaking-up to get there. It’s a testament to how often people break-up, because everyone can relate to what I’m saying.
