"Sounds dirty."

Ladies! Has it really come to this? Mikey Day and Trevor Moore of “The Whitest Kids U Know” appeared on “The Tonight Show” and challenged each other to pick up a girl using only lines from Masterpiece Theatre mini-series “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.” And sadly? It worked! I guess all a girl really wants is for a guy to talk about vajiggle-jaggle with her. We have really lowered the bar. [YouTube]

Chart: Good Cat Calls Vs. Bad Cat Calls

The other day Winona and I were walking back from getting sandwiches (women always be eating sandwiches!) and a guy on the street told me that he liked my tights. It was a mellow cat call, or what I, and other ladies from Philly, like to call a “holler.” Sometimes, guys will straight up ask if they can “holler at you,” but often, a holler will occur on the street or in the bar without warning. We’ve provided this handy chart to help you discern whether the holler you’ve received is of the mild, non-offensive “streetpreciation” variety, or something more sinister and wanton.*

*All hollers referred to in the above chart actually happened to a member of the Frisky staff or one of our friends, lest you think this phenomenon doesn’t exist.

The dentist’s office is a confusing place: the sound of the drill, the smell of fluoride, the group of strangers probing at your mouth and asking you if you have a boyfriend. And you know what? It’s even worse if you start listening for innuendo. Here are 10 things my dentists have said to me over the years that might have actually been pick-up lines:

I was at the bar at the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas enjoying a glass of champagne and having an intense one-in-the-morning chat with a new friend about raising kids (she’s a mom, I want to be one) when a young, casually-dressed guy came over and put his hand on both our backs. He was cute and friendly and something about his unexpected approach sparked my interest. I wasn’t there looking to meet anyone, but I rarely get hit on, so I paid attention. My friend was married and not too impressed with him but she retired and let me judge for myself. Keep reading »

Hey Baby, That’s A Mighty Fine Four Letter Word…

Catherine and I are obsessed with playing Scrabulous on Facebook. It’s the web application that mimics the fun of Scrabble, only without the opportunity for your opponent to peek (or Hasbro’s approval). In addition to playing your friends on FB, you can also play total strangers on Scrabulous.com, and according to Nerve, your chances of getting hit on while looking for a use for that “Q” are pretty high. Here’s how it goes down — when you’re playing on the company’s website, you can opt to play at an Open Table — players who’ve started their own tables can describe the kind of competitor they’re looking for. “For example,” writes Will Doig, “You’re looking for a high-level player (Scrabulous rates players with its own ranking system) who wants to play in real-time (as opposed to over the course of several days) and who is a twenty-something, buxom brunette with filthy syntax.” Um, really? In all the many hours I’ve spent playing Scrabulous online (Shut up! You can’t watch TV and do the New York crossword all the time!), I’ve never had anyone ask me what I was wearing. Neither has Catherine. What’s a girl gotta do to get a lil’ dirty word play? [Nerve.com] Keep reading »

International Pick-Up Artists: Who’s Got Game?

“Your eyes are the same color as my Porsche.” While this pick-up line may have success in Germany, according to a Times Online article on international dating styles, all men find themselves constantly fumbling for a way to impress the ladies. From handling finances to feminism, guys around the globe chimed in with their whiny tales of chasing tail. What did they have to say? Frenchmen, known for their seductive savoir faire, gripe that it’s hard to meet women because they seem so busy. Passionate Italian men, who like to hoot, whistle, and grab, complain new sexual harassment laws are holding them back. On the other hand, shy Australian guys require a wingman for back-up. The well-dressed Brits find themselves too proper to make passes unless they have liquid courage and Germans are obsessed with self-help dating seminars. Wah, wah! What about American guys? Find out, after the jump. Keep reading »
