Korean W Gives Demi Moore Her Hip Back

Poor Demi Moore. Just as the Photoshop drama regarding her W cover finally became last week’s news, the Korean version of the magazine had to go and stir up more controversy. As is the norm, the international mag reprinted the American cover, but failed to use the exact same copy of the image. To recap, after the initial drama, Demi took to Twitter and blasted out what she claimed to be an un-Photoshopped TwitPic of the issue which matches the American issue, followed by her lawyers sending a “threatening letter” to bloggers. But look really close at Demi’s left hip on the Korean W cover. See that extra bit of skin? She was Photoshopped, plain and simple. Now the question is, just which issue was touched up: the skinner hip or the fleshier one? So far there’s no response on the new Korean cover. Meh, at the end of the day, they’re probably both altered, just in different ways. [Hm, or are they just cropped differently?--Editor] [NY Post] Keep reading »

Photoshopping Meryl Streep: I Mean, Really?

I found this photograph after clicking on a VanityFair.com link that read: “Click here to see a slide show of Brigitte Lacombe’s portraits of Meryl Streep.” So, you get a series of photographs that Lacombe has taken of Streep over the years. The first one was taken in 1979. The most recent one is the one you see here and was taken in October. The package comes as part of an online-only teaser for a cover story on Streep, which graces the January issue of the magazine. As Streep states in the piece, she’s experiencing a rare thing for women over 40 in Hollywood: a major comeback. “It’s incredible,” Streep crows proudly. “I’m 60, and I’m playing the romantic lead in romantic comedies!” So, what do they do with her? Why, they airbrush her to death, of course. After the jump, compare the Vanity Fair Streep with the real one, sans Photoshop. Keep reading »

Demi’s Bizarro Hips May Actually Belong To Another Woman!

Remember the controversy over Demi Moore’s W cover, in which it appeared that the magazine’s retouchers had photoshopped her hip to be thinner than her waist? Well, it turns out those bizarro proportions may actually belong to a real, live, breathing woman! The highly observant blogger behind Pop Culture Madness has noted that the body Demi’s head is on may actually belong to a model who wore the same dress in Balmain’s runway show.

“Check out what it appears to be 36 year old Anja Rubik’s superimposed body… scratch that – her body was attached to Demi Moore’s for the sake of a better cover image. You have to wonder, did Demi even wear the same Balmain dress?”

The image she presents as proof — Demi’s cover super-imposed over Rubik’s body — is startling. W claims that “nothing unusual” was done when retouching the cover image, but let’s face it: photoshopping the living hell out of images is par for the course these days. So what do you think? Shady or standard practice? [Pop Culture Madness] Keep reading »

50 Cent Gets Photoshopped To Death

There’s plenty of complaining about how women get Photoshopped into freakish proportions, but what about the dudes? Poor 50 Cent, who got the Photoshop treatment in the ads for his new fragrance, Power. Gone are the tattoos. And what did they do to his face? He looks more like Tyson Beckford than Curtis Jackson. As The Cut points out, they even got rid of his shirt’s buttonholes. We like our 50 a little less airbrushed and more rough around the edges. [The Cut] Keep reading »

Further Proof GQ Super-Sized January Jones’ Breasts

GQ has put up behind-the-scenes video from their January Jones cover shoot — which looks like amazing fun, BTW — and, in my opinion, the footage totally supports the theory that the photo department did some major retouching on her bosom. We wondered earlier if Jones’ braless boobs were amplified — they certainly seemed to be awfully big and perky without a lick of support. In the video we get a number of views of Jones’ cleave from the side and girlfriend seems to be rocking a rack that would fit into my B-cup bras, not the Jessica Simpson-esque curves she’s got on the mag’s cover. I don’t get it. Jones looks lovely and sexy au natural! What’s with the supersizing, GQ? Keep reading »

Ralph Lauren’s Photoshop FAIL Is Not An Isolated Incident

Despite expressing dismay that the previous ad — featuring an extremely whittled-down Filippa Hamilton — had made it to print and that it didn’t represent their “image,” it’s not the only example of Ralph Lauren execs being a bit overzealous with Photoshop. Check out this ad from a Ralph Lauren window display in Sydney. Mmm, doesn’t she look hungry and chic? [Photoshop Disasters] Keep reading »

Photoshop FAIL: Ralph Lauren Model Says She Was Fired For Being Too Fat

On Friday we told you about the controversy surrounding a Ralph Lauren print ad which featured a photograph of a model that was Photoshopped to s**t, whittling her waist to bizarre thinness. Ralph Lauren reps have since said the photo was an accident and doesn’t represent their brand ideals. Well, that model, Filippa Hamilton, appeared on “Today” this morning to blow up Ralph’s spot even more, claiming the brand fired her for being too heavy and not being able to “fit” in the clothes anymore. Check out her interview, above. Keep reading »

Why Did Page Six Magazine Photoshop The Living Hell Out Of Heidi Klum’s Butt?

The image above is not the offending image. The offending image is after the jump — that’s how wonky it is. So, Heidi Klum is on the cover of this week’s quarterly issue of Page Six Magazine and I don’t know when they did the photo shoot, but Heidi is mega preggers right now, so it must have been forevs ago OR they shot it recently and went to Crazy Town with the retouching. Whatever the case may be, they did a horrendous job. Heidi’s got an enviable “curvy” (for a model) and motherly physique — this hack job gives her what my coworker calls “totes flapjacks.” It ain’t right! Click after the jump to see Heidi’s wonk ass. Quick Pic: Sienna Miller And Anna Wintour Let Bygones Be Bygones

Despite the fact that there are entire scenes in “The September Issue” which involve Anna and her cronies criticizing Sienna for being “toothy” (among other flaws) and plotting ways to Photoshop her image for the cover, last night at the premiere they buddied up for a pap shot on the red carpet. Note: Sienna is not flashing her famous grin. [8/19/09, NYC] Keep reading »
