PETA’s outrage over Completely Bare spa owner Cindy Barshop’s “foxy bikini” and “carnivale bikini” treatments has certainly kept the former “Real Housewives of New York City” star’s phones busy. “It’s like I cured cancer,” she says of the response she’s gotten to the new procedures, which involve affixing real fur and real feathers (not both at once) to women’s vaginas with a glue that keeps the stuff stuck there for at least three days. With vaginal waxing practically a staple of the twentysomething woman’s beauty and grooming routine, and semi-permanent vaginal decoration only growing in weirdness and popularity (some might say Nicole Kidman looked like a big vagazzle in her Golden Globes outfit), I rang up Cindy to find out just what goes on during these procedures. Apparently, they’re too new for her to give us statistics on how many customers get them done, but she did provide a lot of other information. Read more…

Former “Real Housewife” Cindy Barshop Explains, In Detail, Just How Her New Real-Fur And Feather Vaginal Decorations Work
Whether or not you wear or eat meat, PETA’s overtly sexualized publicity campaigns might leave a bad taste in your mouth. In addition to billboards featuring stars like Pamela Anderson and Olivia Munn going naked for the cause, the animal rights group often holds live spectacles in public places featuring attractive young women, models, or minor celebrities wearing little. For example, UK reality star Chantelle Houghton dressed up like a caged tiger in her underwear, black pumps, and body paint to protest the government’s decision not to ban wild animals on cruises. She addressed a serious issue in what looked like an ambitious sexy Halloween costume.
Whether it’s a nude girl-on-girl bath for World Water Day or a sexy pilgrim outfit for Thanksgiving, PETA has mastered the sexualized-woman-as-activism genre. Take a look at some of the most recent public displays and tell me if you think potentially objectifying women is worth the attention it brings to animals. Read more…
I’m not 100 percent crazy about PETA — a lot of their advertising and marketing employs sexist tactics in order to promote their pro-animal message. That said, their latest move — to single out Kim Kardashian and Janet Jackson for their pro-fur lifestyles — might not be a bad move. The animal rights organization awarded the two celebs the “Celebrity Grinch Award” for wearing and promoting animal fur.
PETA knows how to raise eyebrows. The animal rights group’s memorable campaigns have entailed everything from celebrities posing nude for its anti-fur campaign to scantily clad women having an erotic moment with their vegetables to support veganism.
Now, PETA has pulled out all of the stops with a XXX porn site for its next clever marketing endeavor, reports The Register.
PETA confirmed the XXX site in a phone interview with The Huffington Post.
“We live in a 24 hour news cycle world and we learn the racy things we do are sometimes the most effective way that we can reach particular individuals,” said PETA spokeswoman Lindsay Rajt. Read more… Keep reading »
For 10 years now, PETA has crowned one man and one woman as the Sexiest Vegetarians of the Year. And for their decade-iversary, the organization has chosen two of my favorite celebrities for the honor—Russell Brand and Kristen Wiig. Brand has apparently been a vegetarian since age 14 and when asked recently by Kelly Ripa if he took a fish oil supplement said, “I’m vegetarian. I think it’s cruel to squeeze oil out of a fish. Cause they’re lovely little guys, aren’t they?” Meanwhile, Kristen credits her vegetarian diet with her rockin’ body. I’d like to offer a meat-free congratulations to Russell and Kristen, who will be succeeding the honor from Olivia Wilde and Cobra Starship’s frontman Gabe Saporta last year and Kellie Pickler and Milo Ventigmiglia the year before that. You work that carrot, baby! In 2009, PETA was willing to pay millions to run a commercial during the Super Bowl of scantily clad women making out with vegetables. The networks declined to air “Veggie Love” — think of the children! — but now PETA is trying again with an “outtakes” video. Once again they’ve upset the delicate balance between animal rights/objectifying women. But when it comes to PETA, what else is new? Hey, how many meateaters became vegans or vegetarians because a bikini model fellated a stick of celery? [BuzzFeed] Keep reading »
“Sarah seems to think that resorting to violence and blood and guts may lure people into watching her boring show. But the ratings remain as dead as the poor animals she shoots.”
