What Your Bag-Holding Style Says About You

It may be subconscious, but what if we told you that the way you hold your bag can tell us a little something about you? Unless you’re the type to carry your wallet in your pocket and your keys off your belt loops, your bag probably contains some of your most important items (including, for some of us, the bag itself — have you seen the sticker price on a Céline tote lately?). And how you choose to house your possessions, tote it around, and keep it on you reveals a little about your own personality.

So, we tapped body-language expert Patti Wood to shed a little insight onto what it all means. Now, take a look down. What are you telling the world? Read more…

What Your Facebook Wall Says About You

This weekend, as I posted my second Ryan Gosling-related YouTube video to my Facebook wall, I realized something. If you were to judge me based solely on what I posted on Facebook — from status updates to links to photos — you would accurately be able to conclude that I am a begrudgingly single 30-something cliche. The three things I post to my Facebook wall most often are 1) adorable photos of my dog, Lucca, 2) Ryan Gosling-related links, videos, and status updates, and 3) photos of myself posing with other people’s babies. As is typical of this type of Facebooker, I of course posted a self-deprecating Facebook status update saying as much, to which a friend replied, “Hey, ‘Cathy’ has retired.” Sigh.

Surely, I am not the only person whose personality can be quickly deciphered via the things we choose to post on Facebook. So, what does your Facebook wall say about YOU? Keep reading »

The Most Annoying Facebook Personalities

We think Brandon Griggs pretty much nailed it in this awesome article for CNN about the 12 most annoying types of Facebookers. My personal most-hated Facebooker? The ugly picture poster. (Come on girl, you know full well that I look like Jay Leno in that pic so why did you tag it for all the world to see?) In fact, we think there are way more than 12 annoying Facebook personalities. See if you agree with us. Keep reading »

Are You One Of These “Not Hot” Women?

Today, Glamour‘s know-it-all guy-about-relationships, Jake, thinks us gals put on certain acts to attract men. Now, I’m willing to cop to having tried out a few flirting tactics here and there—but to me, morphing into a girl I’m not, just to snag a dude, was never in the cards. How freaking exhausting. It’s hard enough being me sometimes, why the hell would I try to be “outgoing-dancing-on-the-bar-because-I’m-sooooo-fun” me? Or “that-should-have-been-a-foul-go-Celtics” me? I just don’t think most of us out there are that contrived in our date-me ploys. And if you are pulling this BS, well, you ain’t fooling anyone, most of all the male species (or this Jake character and his bros). What do you think of these five ladies? My two cents are following his “sage” words… Keep reading »

Not Getting Hit On At Bars? Change The Way You Hold Your Glass

So many characteristics supposedly hint at your personality — from your hair color to your height. Now, a new study from psychologist Glenn Wilson (and sponsored by a chain of bars) says the way you hold your glass tells what kind of person you are. Keep reading »

Like Rap? You Probably Have High Self-Esteem

A study of more than 36,000 people from around the world found that musical tastes and personality type are closely related. Professor Adrian North of Henriot-Watt University found that classical music fans were shy, while heavy metal lovers were gentle and at ease with themselves (the first finding makes sense, the second is puzzling). “The general public has held a stereotype of heavy metal fans being suicidally depressed and of being a danger to themselves and society in general. But they are quite delicate things,” North said. So, maybe it’s the pop music lovers who are the scary ones — the study found that they are “not creative” and “not at ease” but have “high self-esteem.” Personally, I’m a little hurt that indie music lovers are said to be “not hard working.” [BBC] Keep reading »
