Who Wants To Smell Like Kim Kardashian?

Behold the scent of Kim Kardashian. With her booming reality TV career, it was only a matter of seconds before Kim decided to launch her first fragrance. But she says the perfume creation has been in progress since she was little and she and Kourtney would mix flower petals together in the blender. Yet this scent is way more refined, complete with hints of jasmine, gardenia, and sandalwood. This February Sephora will begin to stock Kim’s perfume, which will cost $16-65. Keep reading »

Now You Can Smell Like A Laundromat On The Cheap!

Demeter, the super cute line of highly specific single-note fragrances (you may remember them for creating timeless classics such as Dirt and Play-Doh), will now be made available to the masses via CVS drugstores. Their library contains over 250 fragrances. So, for this launch they’ve whittled down the options and will sell Baby Powder, Pure Soap, Patchouli, Honeysuckle, Laundromat and Lilac. It’s sad if you don’t see your favorite listed, but here’s the good news: While they’re usually sold for $10-$20, you can score them at CVS for $6-$10. How very, um, “recessionista” of them. Eau de Jizz? French Perfume Company’s Got Some Wack Scents

The French have some weird ideas when it comes to personal odors. To wit, what I like to call the “French Shower,” is where you don’t bathe for three days and douse yourself with deodorant and perfume. Which is why it doesn’t surprise me that French perfume company, L’Etat Libre d’Orange, produces a range of bizarre scents. Keep reading »

Would You Like To Try … Urin?

What is this? I don’t know. I don’t know if I even want to know. At first, I thought it was an ad for a real or fake product. (You never know, these days.) A perfume. Called … Urin. Then, I thought it was a music video. Which I guess it is. By Dragonette. (Who, right?) In any case, suffice it to say, I am not going to rush out and by a bottle of Urin any time soon. Unless, you know, everybody else does. Keep reading »

Crave: Crazylibellule And The Poppies Les Garçonnes Perfume (Win It!)

We’re pretty low-maintenance in the perfume department and tend not to bother with spritzing our pressure points before running out the door in the morning. But we like to smell nice, so Crazylibellule and the Poppies’ CrazySticks solid perfume sticks have found a home in our handbags. The sticks, which look like chunky ChapStick tubes, contain light and lovely fragrances that we can rub on whenever the mood strikes us. We’re especially big fans of the new Les Garçonnes collection. Each of the seven scents honors a lovely woman from the ’20s, one of the most glamorous decades ever, in our opinion. It’s too bad these perfumes weren’t around back then; the flappers would have appreciated the convenient, portable scents while painting the town red! [$18, Amazon.com] Keep reading »

Abercrombie & Fitch’s Battle Over Beyoncé’s Fragrance Is Getting Fierce

Poor Beyoncé is having a rough week! First, everyone thought she was involved in some kind of conspiracy with Kanye West and Taylor Swift at the VMAs. Now Abercrombie & Fitch is suing to stop the diva from naming her forthcoming fragrance “Sasha Fierce,” for which Beyoncé filed a letter of intent with the U.S. Patent office back in September. But as it turns out, that lingering stink on your clothes the last time you got within a 60-foot radius of an Abercrombie & Fitch store could have been one of their men’s colognes called “Fierce.” (Can you see where this is going?) A&F filed its lawsuit yesterday, saying Beyoncé has ignored their cease-and-desist letter and has proceeded to develop “Sasha Fierce.” Methinks this lawsuit is just an A&F publicity stunt though, since no one would seriously wander into the temple of suburban preppydom searching for Sasha Fierce’s perfume. Still, one wonders if Beyoncé will buckle and change the name of her parfum to something else? “Bootylicious,” perhaps? [WWD] Keep reading »

Has Perfume Gone Out Of Style?

The other day I came across this article about organic perfume, and I thought the following statistic was somewhat surprising: Apparently, a recent survey revealed that 74 percent of women will at some point in their lifetime have an allergic reaction to at least one fragrance. This seems like a pretty steep percentage, no? I have to say, the only time I ever had an allergic reaction was the time in high school when I put a very concentrated essential oil on my skin, but I guess that counts. And it certainly didn’t turn me off perfume: I’m something of a fragrance schizophrenic in that I match different scents to outfits and moods–there’s Tom Ford Black Orchid for sexy, Annick Goutal Songes for demure, The Body Shop White Musk for earthy, Narciso Rodriguez for cocktail hour, and on and on it goes. But when it comes to women and our relationship with fragrance, there’s something I’ve noticed lately, and it makes me wonder how many women out there wear any perfume at all? Keep reading »

The Original Supermodels Get Naked For D&G’s Anthology

To promote the release of the latest additions to D&G’s Anthology fragrance line, the designers have released a series of sexy ads featuring the original supermodels stripping off their clothes: Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and Eva Herzigova, among others. With George Michael’s “Freedom” blaring in the background, it’s the ’90s all over again! Schiffer does 18 La Lune (for The Dreamer), Naomi does 3 L’Imperatrice (for The Star), and Eva does 10 La Roue de la Fortune (for The Player) with Fernando Fernandes. Get an eyeful of Naomi and Eva after the jump. Keep reading »

Etsy Find Of The Week: Sierra Solid Gold Botanical Perfume Mini

If you’ve ever made the grave mistake of plopping a small bottle of perfume in your bag and thinking you can get away with it not spilling … well, let’s just say we doubt you’ll make that mistake again. But when you’re running around from work to play and back to work again, it’s nice to touch up with a nice subtle scent every now and then. That’s why we swear by perfume solids, and now that we’ve found these cuties from Etsy seller Illuminated Perfume, there’s no reason why the packaging can’t be as lovely as the fragrance. This botanical scent, Sierra Solid Gold, is not going to make people a mile away sit up and smell you. Instead it’s a clean yet well-rounded blend of green conifers like spruce, fir and pine, mixed with warm notes of vanilla, tonka bean, spice and orange. It’s the perfect fragrance to take from late summer well into fall, you know, if you believe in stuff like seasonal perfumes and stuff. [$7.50, Etsy] Keep reading »
