A new week, a new Miley Cyrus crotch photo: that’s the world of Perez Hilton! The gossip blogger tweeted a photo of Miley performing yesterday at the 2010 MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto where a few inches of her inner thigh can be seen through above the crotch-fabric on her leotard. The photo isn’t scandalous in the least bit and you’ll feel dumb wasting five seconds of your life to look at it.

Perez Hilton is furiously trying to backpedal and say it was fine for him to post an up-skirt photo of 17-year-old Miley Cyrus because she was wearing panties — but ABC is not having it. The station has pulled a rotating banner ad for “The View” from Perez’s blog. A source told MSNBC’s The Scoop blog, “It has to do with the morality of the issue. Miley is a minor, period. There are ethics involved in running an ad on a site that potentially violated the rights of a minor and that is what the conversation is about about a network level.” Will other advertisers follow ABC’s lead? Every blog and media outlet in existence has weighed in on Perez Hilton‘s fixin’-for-a-jail-cell tweet that linked to an up-skirt photo of Miley Cyrus. Perez quickly deleted the tweet, so most of us have not actually seen it. But, apparently, Miley wasn’t wearing any underwear while she was exiting a car and … well, you know what happened next.
Miley Cyrus is only a few months shy of turning 18 years old, so everyone is wondering if Perez will be busted for “child porn.” Now, nothing really shocks me anymore, but as deep as my utter cynicism can be penetrated, I’m shocked that so many smart, compassionate people are missing the real story here:

Perez Hilton‘s second book of 2009, True Bloggywood Stories: The Glamorous Life of Beating, Cheating, and Overdosing, hits bookstore shelves tomorrow, and it’s being billed as the perfect holiday gift for any tabloid hound. His Gosspiness claims that the book is full of juicy, can’t-read-anywhere-else tidbits, but I’m skeptical since, uh, why would he save big scoops for the book rather than throwing them up on his blog along with doodly pictures? One of the claims Perez makes in the book: that Drew Barrymore isn’t so reformed. “She was f***ed-up. Being the inexplicable impresario of online gossip isn’t enough for Perez Hilton. Now he wants to be a music tastemaker, too. First step: founding his own record label, Perezcious Music, a subdivision of Warner Music Group. (Get the name, everyone? It sounds like “precious.”) The first person he got to sign on the dotted line was French singer Sliimy, who gained slight notoriety for his cover of Britney’s “Womanizer.” Soon after the deal was done, Perez asked celebs like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry to tweet “Who is Sliimy?” to build buzz. Now, Perez is starting a 20-town music tour called “Perez Hilton Presents,” featuring Ladyhawke, Ida Maria, Semi Precious Weapons, and (use your psychic powers … ) Sliimy. “I think I am providing a very cool experience that folks may not have had access to otherwise,” he told CNN. “I like good music period. The artists on my bill are quite eclectic, from all over the world, representing all genres from singer-songwriter to glam rock, to pop, to dance and rock.”
