For the second year in a row, Pepsi is collaborating with clothing company A Bathing Ape on a line of rebranded graphic soft drink cans — but they may want to go back and pick a new font for the ads. This one — posted to Twitter — sure made me do a double take… [Twitter]
The Snackopalypse is upon us, and it is going to coated with bright orange Cheeto dust. The firm behind the crunchy, cheesy snack, with its perfect mouth-feel, has developed a new varietal: Pepsi-flavored Cheetos. Now, you’re probably thinking, But Pepsi is the thing I drink when I’m at a weird diner that doesn’t serve Coke. And you’d be right. But it is also the beverage that was smart enough to partner with Cheetos on their new soda-flavored snack. Keep reading »
We’re not really sure what prompted this normal-looking dude, Nate, to take a bath in 312 cans of Pepsi, but by all means, man, do what you gotta do. (Methinks it might be a Pepsi Max commercial disguised as a viral video.) I personally like to cleanse in soap and water and drink soda, but who am I to judge? We’ll, uhh, watch from here. Is the traditional Diet Pepsi can too short and fat for you? Are you embarrassed to be seen holding it? No worries, girlfriend. PepsiCo. has announced it’s releasing a “taller, sassier, new Skinny Can” which is meant to celebrate “beautiful, confident women.” It’s like the Virginia Slims of diet sodas! Naturally, the new can will debut this fall, just in time for fashion week, because, duh, “Our slim, attractive new can is the perfect complement to today’s most stylish looks,” said Pepsi CMO Jill Beraud. Ugh. I think I’ll stick with my chubby Diet Coke, thanks. [The Daily What] Keep reading »
If the new reality show “Married By 30″ makes women look desperate to get married, Pepsi Max’s “asteroid” commercial makes men look like sad little slaves to their own d**ks. This commercial (posted on YouTube in early February) shows a group of guy friends who fake a newscaster’s alert about an asteroid hitting the Earth and show it on TV at a bar where one guy is sitting next to a beautiful woman. When she finds out she has less than 10 minutes to live before the asteroid hits, she pounces on him. The implication is that those crazy sex-crazed boys have to trick the fairer sex to get us in bed — and that trickery is totally OK and not the slightest bit creepy.
Guys, don’t you find it offensive when commercials portray you this way? [YouTube] Keep reading »
Today Access Hollywood and US Weekly share exclusive, never-before-seen footage of Michael Jackson’s hair catching on fire during the infamous 1984 Pepsi commercial filming. The pyrotechnic disaster is significant not just because Jackson sustained some very serious second- and third-degree burn injuries, but some insiders claim it was the catalyst for the painkiller addictions that would later cost him his life. While I do believe that posting this seriously disturbing video is tasteless and tawdry, I’m actually kind of an a-hole because once I knew it was there I couldn’t resist taking a peek. While I waited for the video to load, I was treated to a commercial about new Dove products where the narrator cooed, “Repair your hair.” Next, MJ’s hair caught on fire. Yeesh. To be fair, the commercials they show in this video rotate and I’m sure this was totally inadvertent, but just sayin’… Might wanna yank that one guys. [Access Hollywood] Keep reading »
