Penn Badgely, like the rest of the “Gossip Girl” cast, is just biding his time until that abomination of a show is over. And in the meantime, he’s made this perfectly awesome parody of Steinbeck’s East of Eden with the guys from Periods films. Periods makes super funny, anachronistic renditions of great works of literature (my favorite is their take on Edith Wharton’s Ethan Frome). Enjoy Badgely as the totally dickish twin in Eden. Occupy Wall Street got its biggest — if briefest — celeb occupier on Monday when Kanye West showed up at Liberty Square/Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan and pow-wowed with Russell Simmons. Simmons was there showing his support for the movement, and while Kanye has yet to say what he thought of his time among the eclectic community of occupiers, Simmons had this to say:
“It was amazing to see how people loved seeing Kanye West at Occupy Wall Street. His music and his art has always been about the voice and the power of the people. Kanye just wanted to come down and experience the growing movement that has opened the eyes of many around this country and around the world of the struggles of poor people. The energy at Liberty Plaza was electrifying and the momentum to get the money out of politics is growing quickly.”
If Kanye’s interest is genuine, awesome, but I hope reports that he wore a gold grill for the visit are untrue. A Givenchy shirt is one thing, but a gold grill is just so … how should I put this? … one percent. [Global Grind, Village Voice]

We shared with you a while back that James Franco and Robert Pattinson were in a battle to play Jeff Buckley, who rose to fame covering songs like “Hallelujah” before drowning at age 30 in the ’90s. We assumed James Franco would prevail, since he looks so Buckley-esque and also has an Oscar nomination to his name. But rumor has it that a dark horse third contender has entered and won the race—Penn Badgley of “Gossip Girl,” aka Blake Lively‘s ex. This allegedly has Robert Pattinson upset. “Rob hasn’t heard ‘no’ a lot lately, so he’s really bummed. He was passionate about this project,” a source told HollywoodLife.com.

Blake Lively and Penn Badgley are definitely the cutest actors who’ve played a couple on TV that refuse to acknowledge they’re one in real life too. Luckily, “Gossip Girls” in training all around New York are constantly telling the tabs about their Blake/Penn sightings. Like last week, the two were spotted having brunch and smooching at Five Points restaurant. According to People, “The actor was very doting and even walked his girlfriend to the bathroom at the end of their meal. The two left the restaurant arm-in-arm.”
Um, back the truck up a second. He walked her to the bathroom? I’d never heard of this particular convention until last summer, when a date offered to do this. “Why would you walk me to the bathroom?” I asked. “Oh, I thought that was common courtesy,” he said. Sweet, but I’m a big girl. I can make it the 15 feet to the bathroom on my own. I’m not really interested in having you join me for the walk, unless you’re planning to join me in there for a quickie.

Normally, wet white t-shirts have been used on drunken Spring Break girls. But the geniuses at In Style have finally appropriated the tight, sheer, T for women by putting Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley in one. I’m sure he was cold on set soaking wet, but the pictures are super hot. Then, once they got him stripped down and warmed up, they asked him about what he finds sexy. The young guys of Gossip Girl, the hit CW show about Manhattan’s elite teens, are so sexy they make us feel like cougars. The barely legal boys, Penn Badgley (nice guy Dan), Chace Crawford (tortured prepster Nate), and Ed Westwick (bad-boy Chuck), are getting even closer than the steamy scripts permit in this month’s Out magazine. It’s a three for the price of one issue, since the gay men’s mag has found a way to fit them all into one frame and made the Gossip Guys cover boys with a full spread inside.
