4th Of July DIY

Approximately 98.64 percent of Americans will barbeque this weekend (that’s a fabricated statistic, but I don’t think I’m off by much) in celebration of Independence Day. Here are three easy DIY projects that will add a little red, white, and blue to your 4th Keep reading »

A Salsa-Filled Party Sombrero Is The Only Party Hat You’ll Ever Need

All due respect and praise to the genius that came up with the salsa hat prototype, seen here. Think about how many versions of this edible tortilla hat were created and then failed, spilling delicious salsa all over the wearer. It would seem that Surrealist artist Salvador Dali and Bob Hope wouldn’t travel in the same circles, but oh no, they do! Mr. Hope was once invited to a party at Dali’s house themed around guest’s worst nightmares. We’re guessing Hope’s worst nightmare was probably being at a Surrealist party, because the comedian appears none too thrilled in this news reel footage of the event. Dali’s wife/object of obsession Gala looks pretty amazing as a unicorn, though. [Flavorwire]

How To Go To A Party Alone

It’s holiday time again, which for me means lots of parties to go to … solo. My first instinct is usually to try to snag a pal to bring with me to party crash, but recently, I was invited to a party where the host explicitly instructed guests not to bring a plus one. I was dreading showing up there, thinking it would be uncomfortable, but once I arrived, I embraced it and ended up having a great time. After I deftly extricated myself from a dull conversation with an awkward woman with a neck twitch, I hit it off with a group of dudes with nerdy glasses who shared my love of stupid dance moves. Needless to say, I have a new appreciation for going to parties alone. After the jump, some tips for making the best of a stag situation. Add your suggestions in the comments. Keep reading »
