“Vampires Suck” Looks Like It … Sucks

I’m still reeling from the atrocity that was “Date Movie,” but now Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg are back to make fun of “Twilight” and all the other fangy movies and TV shows with the flick “Vampires Suck.” I’m not sure why they wasted all that production value on churning out these movies. But even more so, I’m annoyed at how out of control they’ve gotten. Is it really necessary to parody like 40 movies at once and insert a zillion pop culture references? What does “Alice in Wonderland” have to do with vampires? And why do the actors look more like the actors from “Twilight” than the actors from “Twilight” look like themselves? I’ll admit that the Black Eyed Peas joke made me chuckle, but it just seems silly to parody a movie that is already so ridiculously silly half the time. That paper-cut scene actually happened! I recommend you watch this adorable video of baby pandas instead. [BuzzFeed] Keep reading »

Plan B- Parody Commercial Isn’t So Off-The-Wall

This parody commercial for “Plan B-” from comedian Jena Friedman literally could have been based on a conversation I had with a girlfriend, oh, eight years ago? The “truthiness” of it, as Broadsheet’s Mary Elizabeth Williams writes, is “so funny that if it doesn’t hurt, it definitely burns a little.” [Salon] Keep reading »

Video Parodies: “Single Ladies (And Men) Put A Ring On It”

We’ve really caught Sasha Fierce fever here in The Frisky offices. At least once a day, “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” blares from one of our computers. And some of us plan to learn the choreography this weekend. After watching the “Saturday Night Live” skit with Beyonce and Justin Timberlake, we knew there had to be other parody videos. And we were right (we really love when that happens). There are videos of men and women of different sizes and ages “performing” the choreography from “Single Ladies.” We even found a video in which “Mexican Breakfast” video was redubbed with “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).” As you know, Bob Fosse created the dance routine for “Mexican Breakfast” and Beyonce borrowed it for her video. After the jump check out the best of the rest of the parody videos. Keep reading »
