Remember Lindsay Lohan’s plans to debut her Playboy issue on Ellen? Well, there will be no such interview. Following her very eventful Hawaiian vacation, Lindsay failed to hop her early flight back to L.A. yesterday for the taping. So much for that.

The consolation prize, for those that were hyped to hear what Lindsay had to say? Paris Jackson, daughter of Michael, appeared on Ellen in Lohan’s place. The episode, which airs on Thursday, will mark the 13-year-old’s first ever solo interview. Judging by the video preview, which you can watch on Radar Online, Paris seems surprisingly normal and well-adjusted despite her upbringing and the controversy surrounding her father. I, for one, am glad Lindsay bailed — this interview with Paris is bound to be more interesting, and what could Lindsay possibly have to say that we haven’t heard from her before? Trainwrecks are tedious when they only play one note.

10 Reasons We’re Obsessed With Blanket Jackson

After a certain point, the answer to “What Would Suri Do?” just isn’t terribly challenging. This is why we must find new child icons to obsess over. And it looks like Blanket Jackson is the Shiloh Jolie-Pitt of the Jackson clan, stealing all the thunder from the other less pouty children. Even though his sister Paris is more eloquent and his brother Prince Michael is more, um, old, Michael Jackson‘s youngest son Blanket has the magic about him. He’s got fashion icon potential and the talent to fill his dad’s shoes. So we’ve rounded up 10 reasons we’re obsessed with the little guy! Keep reading »

8 Surprising Things About Michael Jackson We Learned From Yesterday’s “Oprah”

It’s been more than a year since Michael Jackson died, and in December his posthumous album Michael will be released. So yesterday, Oprah sat down with the King of Pop’s parents and children and asked them to share things the world didn’t know about Michael. After the jump, some surprising things that were said. Michael Jackson’s Kids To Appear On “Oprah”

It looks like Michael Jackson‘s kids — Prince, 13, Paris, 12, and Blanket, 8 — will be appearing on an upcoming episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Apparently, Oprah went to visit Michael’s mother, Katherine, to do a story on the late singer’s childhood, legacy, and children, and she sat down with the kids for a backyard chat. Amelia and I share a longstanding fascination with Blanket, so I, for one, am intrigued to see this. I mean: BLANKET! That right there is enough to capture my attention. It makes me want to name my children after random household items. In any case, the Michael Jackson tribute show airs November 8. [People] Keep reading »

Should Prince And Paris Jackson Have Spoken At The Grammys?

Can we talk for a minute about Michael Jackson’s kids, Prince and Paris Jackson, accepting the lifetime achievement award on behalf of their father at the Grammys last night? First, they’re gorgeous kids who seem healthy and well-adjusted and it’s heartening to see them no longer hiding behind veils like they did when their dad was alive. But just because they aren’t hiding anymore, I’m not sure it’s the best idea to parade them in front of millions and millions of viewers only months after they lost their father. Speaking on a stage like that is hard enough for a seasoned professional, but these are young kids who aren’t experienced performers. Poor Paris could barely get the words out, and what she said didn’t really make any sense. Can you imagine the mix of nerves and grief in a situation like that? I don’t know … maybe there’s an argument that accepting the award and publicly expressing the love they have for their father is therapeutic. I just hope they have people who are more concerned with their emotional well-being than turning them into public figures in Michael’s memory. What are your thoughts? [via YouTube] Keep reading »

Michael Jackson’s Memorial Exploited Emotions And Wasted Taxpayer Dollars

I’ve already said that I love Michael Jackson’s music and am very sad that he passed away at far too young of an age. I think it’s terribly sad that his children, who have already led such bizarre lives, at least out in public, now have lost their anchor. Which is why it was heartbreaking to see Paris Jackson speak at her father’s televised memorial yesterday, saying (with prompts from the Jackson clan to “speak up, sweetheart, speak up”), “I just want to say ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just wanted to say I love him, so much,” eventually collapsing into her aunt Janet’s arms.

I agree wholeheartedly with Jessica Grose at Double X, who says that while Paris’ emotions seemed genuine and the Jackson family said it was her desire to speak, they should not have allowed her.

I’m all for public grieving, and for Paris to have spoken at a family funeral would have been entirely appropriate and I’m sure cathartic. But having her grieve in front of the entire world felt incredibly exploitative…. To allow this child to put herself out there in this manner just seemed wrong.
