Back in 1999, Ben Stiller got together his pals Jack Black, Owen Wilson and Ron Silver (playing himself!) to make a failed pilot called “Heat Vision and Jack.” Black plays a renegade astronaut, whose catchphrase is “knowledge is power, for real” and Wilson plays his friend who was accidentally turned into his motorcycle. Ron Silver is the guy out to get both of them. It’s … terrible, but in a totally hilarious way, and I end up watching it at least once a year because it’s so ridiculous. Enjoy! [YouTube]
It’s not hard to understand why screenwriters love to make the male lead some kind of carpenter or woodworker: its a vaguely “manly” sounding job yet free-spirited and there’s ample opportunity to take their shirts off. I realized this the other night when I saw “Peace, Love & Misunderstanding” and fell head over heels in lust with Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays Catherine Keener’s super-sensitive love interest yet is also a manly-man carpenter. He’s a poor man’s Javier Bardem, but I won’t have to shank Penelope Cruz to get him in bed. Mmm-mmm. You can hammer my nail anytime, Jeffrey. Screw my bolts. Level my 2-x-4. Drill, baby, drill!
Enough with the double entendres. After the jump, eight more hot carpenters of film and television. I’m sure you’ll be impressed with how well they work with their wood. (Sorry.)
It’s still hard to believe that Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn are dating given their 24-year age difference (for the record: she is 26), but they seem to be going pretty strong. In this photo, they jog together. The two surprises: that they are joined by buddy Owen Wilson. And that Scarlett is totally rocking those ugly finger-toe shoes. Eeek! [PopSugar] Keep reading »
The word on the street this morning is that Kate Hudson is pregnant with Matthew Bellamy of Muse’s baby. “It was not planned, but they are excited and embracing it,” a source told Us Weekly. “She is happy for Ryder to finally have a brother or sister.” Who knows if this is true, but if so, congrats to Kate and Matthew. And interestingly, Kate’s former flame Owen Wilson just announced yesterday that he has a baby on the way, too. Maybe their kids can be besties? [Us Weekly, People] Keep reading »
