A significant amount of my brain space is being taken up with obsessing over winter coats. I know, really intellectual stuff. I am currently creating a puddle of drool on my laptop keyboard over Miranda Kerr’s gorgeous Rag & Bone coat. This bitch is $1,395, however, which is waaaaaaay too rich for my blood. Luckily, there’s a ton of similar jackets for way less currently available online. Here are nine grey and black options I love. Keep reading »
Okay, yeah, sure, you should probably have one or two neutral colored coats in your winter wardrobe – camel, black, navy, grey, whatever. But don’t you want something fun and colorful and bright and crazy to keep you warm sometimes too? Spending a bundle on an eye-catching red, blue, yellow, green or burgundy coat is probably not particularly practical, however, unless you’re Victoria Beckham. (If you are Victoria, let me take a moment to say HI POSH YOU’RE GREAT!) So I found some coats Posh would totally buy, and their affordable lookalikes for the rest of us. Shop on!
A puffy down vest is a wardrobe must for anyone who lives in a cold climate, as they provide loads of heat without adding tons of bulk to your outfit. Plus, they have a whole sporty, utilitarian vibe to them that’s actually quite chic, if styled properly. Here’s how I’d wear it depending on the weather forecast…

Welcome to layering season! As we ease our way into fall and anticipate cooler temperatures ahead, we’ll be showing you how to wear key wardrobe pieces in different ways depending on the weather outside, ensuring that item you bought in September is still a part of your wardrobe rotation come February. For our second Fashion Forecast, I’m tackling what every fashion magazine has informed me is THE MUST HAVE item of the season: the moto jacket. While I’m usually skeptical of lady mag advice, the moto jacket is actually quite versatile and is an excellent staple you’ll not only wear like crazy this year, but for many years to come. Here’s how to wear this BB Dakota faux leather version when it’s mild and gloomy (now!), chilly (in two months), and cold as fuck and slightly snowy (the dead of winter)… Keep reading »
Psst! Let me tell you a secret! The best time to buy a new coat is right now. Since it’s mid-winter, most stores are desperate to get rid of their coat stock, and you can tell by the deep discounts they’re willing to give. We have it on good authority that boxy, oversized coats are going to be so big next season — you can already see them gracing the runways — so we’ve rounded up a bunch of mega-cute, mega-cheap coats on super sale. Get ‘em while they’re hot and it’s still cold!
It’s been a pretty mild winter so far here in New York, with temperatures rising above 50 just last week … so it seems only karmic that just when we were thinking we could deal with winter at its best, we’re about to get it at its worst. Rumor has it (I go on Weather.com, sometimes) that temperatures are dropping, and a big chill is coming in a big way. If you haven’t invested in some crazy-ugly, crazy-warm winter outerwear and accessories, well, you might want to hit express on that shipping. I know it’s $15. Just do it. The good news: because we’re technically moving into the next season (spring!), tons of these items are on steep sale. The bad news: you’ll have to get your hands on them quick, before a) they sell out and b) the second ice age arrives. Okay, so maybe that’s an exaggeration, but still. I just hope that when it comes, you’ll have had the foresight to wear these …
A trench coat is one of those truly classic pieces you’ll never regret adding to your wardrobe. However, if your budget is more Target than Neiman Marcus (I feel you, girl), you can still find some great coats at a lower price point. Click through to check out 10 fabulous trench coats–all for $100 or less!
