Well, it’s pretty clear The Los Angeles Times magazine thinks it’s got the Best Actress thing on lock. And no wonder — look how amazing “The Help”‘s Viola Davis looks on the cover of their magazine. Inside, Davis elucidates the key to her acting skill — a tip gleaned from playwright David Mamet: “If you’re looking at an actor onstage with a cat, who are you going to look at, the actor or the cat? The cat, because the cat is just being a cat.” [ONTD]

The 2012 Academy Awards nominees were announced today, and while many of the movies and actors who made the list were as-expected, there were several expected names left off the list. Overall, it seemed like a subpar year for films, and it’s hard to get overly excited about the Oscars this year, but certainly some of the following faces should have been included in the nomination list. Good morning! Just a short time ago, the 2012 Oscar nominations were announced in Hollywood. For the most part, there were few surprises in who was nominated (Clooney, Streep, Viola Davis, “The Artist,” etc.), but as with any competition, some worthy films and players were left out in the cold. Read the hilarious letter after the jump. Keep reading »
“I can’t care about whether I’m too big for some or too small for others. It goes back to how you feel about yourself. I like me the way I am. For anyone who wants to lose: Dude, if I can do it, you can do it. And for those who want to stay the same, I hope I can be an example to you, too; I was proud of being a big girl … It’s like my mother said: ‘Well, honey, when there is a will, there is a way.’ You have to want it. I’m prouder of my weight loss than my Oscar! I hope it has inspired people.”
—Jennifer Hudson talks to SELF magazine about her dramatic weight loss over the past two years, and about how many fans have criticized her for getting too skinny. While I like her response to that, I can’t believe she said she’s prouder of her weight loss than her Oscar. Lots of people will lose a dramatic amount of weight over the course of their life. Very few will win a little golden guy. [Celebitchy] Keep reading »
