Etsy Spotlight: Mirror, Mirror On The Wall

Mirrors are a great way to make a room seem bigger or add visual interest to your space. Mirrors with ornate frames can hold their own next to framed art and photos, and I love how unexpected they look mixed in with non-reflective decorations. Another great way to utilize a gorgeous mirror? Lay it down on your dresser or vanity and stack your prettiest jewelry and perfume bottles on it–suddenly your bedroom will feel like an old school boudoir. We scoured Etsy and found 8 mirrors in a variety of gorgeous vintage frames — all for 50 bucks or less. Click through to check ‘em out…

E-Commerce Site Very.com Is Very, Very British

Love Brit High Street stores — like South Savoir and Love Label — but hate paying for stupid overseas shipping? Us, too. That’s why we’re pleased to announce that Very.com has hit American shores, and is offering the best in British brands stateside. The site offers everything you might need in sizes ranging from petite to tall to plus-size, and has hilarious little Anglo idiosyncrasies. Dresses are split up into maxi, day, going out, occasion and “smart” categories. It’s definitely worth a look. [Very]

A Running List Of Awesome Cyber Monday Deals (Updated!)

Cyber Monday. All of the awesome Black Friday deals, without the risk of being trampled, mugged, or pepper-sprayed by your fellow shoppers. Look, as much as I sort of hate these “buy buy buy buy!” pseudo-holidays, the fact remains that Christmas and Hanukkah are just around the corner and there is gifts to purchase, so you might as well save some money doing it. With that in mind, I’ll be updating this list of Cyber Monday deals and links all day, as I find them. I’m looking to add smaller, independent retailers to this list so if you know of a great Etsy shop or another online indie retailer that has a cool deal today, email amelia@thefrisky.com with “Cyber Monday” in the subject line! Woo Hoo! H&M Online Shopping Is Coming Soon

I have a weakness for H&M. But going to the store can be pure hell between the crowds, the thumping music, and the epic fitting room lines. So I’ve always been annoyed that the retailer hasn’t offered online shopping for U.S. costumers—I mean, they have it in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Holland, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Well, now Americans are being invited to the party. The company tweeted earlier today, “Good morning is an understatement! H&M has decided to have online shopping in the U.S. at the turn of the year 2011/2012.” Nice. Here’s hoping two of our other favorites—Zara and Club Monaco (who sells a few pieces through Shopbop.com)—get the memo and start allowing us to online shop soon. [Refinery 29] Keep reading »

Rue La La Sells Rock & Republic Jeans For More Than 50 Percent Off

Rue La La, one of our favorite designer sample sale sites, kicked off its 48-hour sale of Rock & Republic jeans today. Rock & Republic is known for bringing their customer chic and edgy jeans and sportswear. Their jeans have come to symbolize luxury and status for today’s ambitious and fashion-forward generation. But even those with a more moderate budget than the typical Rock & Republic consumer can get the same look for less during Rue La La’s two-day sale. Rock & Republic jeans usually retail for about $200 or more, but Rue La La is selling them for about $80. If you’re not a member of Rue La La, it’s free and easy to sign up. But hurry before all the jeans sell out!

Rue La La sent me a pair of Rock & Republic “Stella” Bootcut Jeans to try out. See how I styled them after the jump. Keep reading »

For Designers Banking On Instant Gratification, “Seasons” May Become A Thing Of The Past

While we are die-hard Fashion Week fans, we’ve often griped about the frustration it brings because winter collections are shown in the summer, spring collections in the winter, and so on and so forth. With the way the fashion world is set up, it often feels like you can never see what you want and then buy it the same day—even when the season is off. We spend all this time immediately analyzing trends off the runway and devouring photos, but by the time the clothes are released, we’re on to the next thing and they almost seem like old news. According to New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn, we may begin to see fashion houses appealing more to the consumer’s instant gratification desire. Keep reading »
