TheFind Makes Shopping Easier And Harder All At Once

At The Frisky, we’re always on the hunt to find awesome products to tell you about (and to buy for ourselves, on occasion). But the internet is huge! It can be overwhelming to visit site after site after site in search of the perfect pair of boots. We’ll often search for clothes on ShopStyle, but they have partnerships with a particular handful of stores, which, at times, can be on the pricier side.

So, we’re excited to try out the newly relaunched shopping search engine TheFind.com. Type in whatever you’re looking for, and this little engine that could will check with more than 500,000 sources to give you tons of options—and links to discount codes for each store, if they’re available. No more randomly searching those sketchy-looking coupon sites! Plus, you can limit your search to local sellers and “green” options. And TheFind isn’t just for clothes. The site can help you search for everything from home goods to electronics.

EZ MyStyling

Cell phones are getting smarter and smarter. With Apple’s genius, there’s an app for just about everything. But now Japan has decided that their cell phones are style savvy enough to help girls decide what to wear.

Mobile carrier KDDI recently launched EZ MyStyling, a Flash application that allows you to not only create looks and purchase outfits but also create your own model to appear in your likeness, meaning those terrible dressing room lights and long lines may soon be extinct. Test out the latest fashion trends from your phone while waiting for the bus, subway, or even sitting on your couch. Once you’ve dressed your model, move to the computer and suddenly she has the ability to strut down a runway. Online shopping, avatars, and daydreams of runway fame—could you ask for more?

Now, if someone could only create the perfect Cher Horowitz closet from Clueless ....

market publique

eBay, we love you, but you’re a bit of a tease. You get us all worked up when we rush into the warm embrace of your vintage fashion offerings, but you often leave us unsatisfied with crummy pics and random products. So, it’s come to this—we’ve moved on and found someone else. Her name is Market Publique, an online auction site for vintage goods. Sellers have to be approved, so what you get is a range of expertly curated, well-photographed items with clear descriptions. Styles up for grabs that piqued our interest: an Yves Saint Laurent terry dress going for $158, a mod 60s-era swing coat for $148 (only eight hours left on that one!), and a glam ‘80s-style sequined top for $34.

Hello? Are you still there? Or are you already outbidding us? Crap. [Market Publique]

H&M Wants To Decorate Your Home

Linens from H&M

Ikea, watch out. H&M is set to take over your entire world.

H&M gave shoppers all over a thrill just a few weeks ago when the store announced that Internet shopping would finally be available in the coming months. But they’re not stopping with that. Now, they’re ready to get into the home goods arena, so not only your wardrobe can be filled with H&M, but your home can be decked out as well. So far the site features bed linens and bathroom towels, but there’s also a section for organic cotton and rugs, so really it’s only a matter of time before it’s a full blown Ikea competitor. Let the cheap yet stylish Swedish homewares war begin! Ironically, the first area that H&M has begun to cater their sheets and pillows to is Sweden.

The Frisky Editors Go E-Commerce Crazy!

It should come as no surprise to readers that The Frisky staff is really into fashion, after clicking through our daily outfits for the last few weeks. Chances are, a lot of what we—specifically myself, Catherine, and Annika—have worn has come from shopping on Gilt.com, an online sample sale website. Each day the site has a handful of new designer sales starting at NOON ON THE DOT and the excitement that fills the office at this moment is, uh, baffling to some. Specifically, to one of our male co-workers—yes, they exist and no they don’t fan us with palm fronds all day—who shot the video above while we engaged in a particularly nail-biting shopping frenzy during one of Gilt’s final sales. For the record, I have worn the jeans. The top still has tags.

Boutique of the Week: TheOutnet.com

TheOutnet.com Launches

Ordinarily, being on the outs isn’t a good thing. That’s all changing thanks to newly-launched discount designer e-boutique, TheOutnet.com. The brainchild of the team behind the super luxe Net-A-Porter.com, the site features a battery of high-end goods for as much as 70 percent off (“It’s Chic-Onomics,” the site proclaims). There’s no hit or miss thanks to the impressive list of designers that includes Jill Stuart, Derek Lam, Miu Miu, and DvF. You may recognize pieces from last year like a Vera Wang strapless graphic print dress, but you’ll be glad you waited to buy when you see that it’s 60 percent off. Our picks for today include a bright yellow Marc by Marc Jacobs bow top ($95) and a fancy See by Chloé metallic dress ($252). Be sure to also check out the Dress Me section, which compiles fashion choices for vacations (choose from Jet Set, or Day in the Country) as well as social events (first date, cocktail hour). A New Online Store For Sequined ‘80s Tops And Full Skirts From The ‘50s

vintage clothes

1950s Black and White Full Circle Party Dress, $188

We love vintage clothes as much as the next stylish frugal girl, so we’re psyched about the newly launched Market Publique. Sure, there are other places where you can buy old clothes online. Etsy and eBay both have loads of users selling vintage, but sometimes we get sick of sorting through mis-categorized listings. While there isn’t a ton of stuff on Market Publique yet, we think we’ll make frequent stops whenever we’re cyber shopping. [Market Publique via Refinery29]

computer mouse arrow

You probably knew that last Thursday was a holiday (Thanksgiving), but did you know that today is one, too? This morning I learned that it’s “Cyber Monday,” the online counterpart to Black Friday. Even though the term is new to me, it was coined in 2005 by a retailers association, and it finally seems to be catching on—there’s even a website dedicated to telling you where the deals are: CyberMonday.com. Below, some of the best online deals going on today…

Ralph Lauren Rugby Introduces The Future Of Shopping

Ralph Lauren Rugby

On Friday afternoon, intern Annika and I went on a shopping trip to the Ralph Lauren Rugby store in Manhattan to check out their new interactive display (others are coming soon to Rugby’s Georgetown and Boston stores). At first we were a little confused about how it worked (partially because our iPhone was having network issues), but now that we understand it, we’re pretty sure this will develop into the future of shopping.

The Daily Squeeze: Online Shopping, Sticky Hair, And Rat Research

A man tries to shop

  • Men spend more money shopping online than women and are less likely to return items. Supposedly, men need to do things quickly because they value their time more. Or women just enjoy shopping and men see it as something that needs to get done before they can play Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
    [WSJ via Chicago Tribune]

  • A 21-year-old woman has filed a $200,000 lawsuit against American Airlines, saying they failed to protect her after a male passenger moved to a seat next to hers and reportedly masturbated beside her. The woman awoke on the flight with “a substantial amount of an extremely sticky substance in her hair.” [AHN]
  • Low sperm count and some other issues associated with male fertility might be determined in the womb. In a study of rats, researchers at the University of Edinburgh found that the levels of male hormones in a mother’s womb may determine the future reproductive health of her offspring. [BBC]

  • An Italian survey found that people involved in an office romance were happier, more energetic, and more productive, so in the name efficiency at work, ask your IT guy out to drinks. [The Sun (U.K.)]
  • Kelly Osbourne might be single, but she won’t be finding her next boyfriend on the Internet. “I’d never go on one of those online dating sites…,” she said. “The Internet was created for knowledge and now it’s perverted.” Does that mean she doesn’t use e-mail? [Digital Spy]
  • Guys who are sheepish about entering lingerie stores can go online and view various ensembles on actual models. While this seems like it could be good idea, the models are too small—the largest looks to be a size 6 and doesn’t have a speck of cellulite on her butt (which is visible when have her “try on” a thong).
