The Olympics Thought Ski Jumping Was Bad For Your Delicate Lady Uterus

The 2014 Winter Olympics will be the first time ever that women’s ski jumping will be a sport. Previously, women were only allowed to test the courses for the men. The International Olympic Committee has long said women were excluded from competition because the category does not have enough elite female competitors, a charge actual women ski jumpers disputed. So it is with great “Ugh”-ing and eyerolling that I point out the actual fucked-up, sexist, medically inaccurate belief that was (not officially, but still) holding women back: ski jumping is bad for the uterus. Olympic Diver Tom Daley Comes Out In YouTube Video
"Well, that someone is a guy."

There has long been speculation — perhaps hopeful speculation – that British Olympic diver Tom Daley, 19, is gay. This weekend, the bronze metal winner, who’s very popular with the hormonal, Bieber-loving set in his home country, decided to take control of the rumors and posted this candid confessional to YouTube, in which he says for the first time that he’s in a relationship with a man. Female Olympic Athletes Come In All Shapes And Sizes

Olympic Women

125 Olympic athletes were photographed by Howard Schatz to exemplify body diversity in even the most fine tuned of human forms. A woman’s body is a personal thing that has historically been made public. Whether that objectification comes from the male gaze or the mainstream media, many times our bodies can feel like they’re constantly under scrutiny, comparison or just not good enough. It’s even worse when we project these ideals onto ourselves. When I saw the body diversity amongst, quite literally, some of the greatest athletes in the entire world, I was struck by how unique and gorgeous each of these women were. Exercise As Payment

Rather than accept monetary payment in exchange for a ride, the machine requires that customers do 30 leg squats or lunges to obtain a ticket. Read more on Style Caster…

“We are doing everything, both the organizers and our athletes and fans, so that participants and guests feel comfortable in Sochi, regardless of nationality, race or sexual orientation…”

Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted that gay participants and attendees of the upcoming 2014 Olympic festivities in Sochi will be welcome. Given Russia’s harsh anti-gay laws and the backlash they’ve been receiving, that’s hard to imagine, but here’s hoping he keeps his word. Russia has received international criticism for its criminalization of homosexuality, and that’s making for a tense lead-up to the Olympics. [TIME] [Image via WENN]
