Yesterday, Michelle Obama made an appearance on “The Situation Room” to talk about kids and technology. “In my household, we try to establish a set of guidelines and rules that make sense—no computers, phones, television during the week,” she said of Sasha, 8, and Malia, 11. And if that weren’t bummer enough, when the girls do get to watch TV on weekends, they have only three options—Nickelodeon, The Disney Channel, or football with dad. “With their TV intake limited … we found over the break that they are both very good Taboo players,” Michelle told People earlier this year.   • Jessica Simpson gave Tony Romo a $100,000 speedboat for his birthday. [Perez Hilton] — Her shoe line must be doing very well because we know she doesn’t make big money from her music.
  • While Kate Gosselin is in North Carolina with her sextuplets, Jon is at home with the twins filming scenes for their reality show. He says their marital problems are a private manner. [E! Online] — Hmm, maybe he should stop posing for tabloid covers, while he’s at it.

Who Is Bo Obama, Anyway?

Have you heard the news? The Obamas got a dog, and they’re naming him Bo! There were some conflicting reports about Bo over the weekend (is he, in fact, from a shelter?), so we thought thought we’d straighten out things regarding the new First Dog.

  • Bo is a 6-month-old Portuguese water dog (also known as a Portie).
  • Ever since President Obama made his campaign promise to daughters Malia and Sasha, the media hasn’t stopped talking about Malia’s allergies and how their dog must be hypoallergenic. Bo will not make her sneeze.
  • Sadly, Bo isn’t a shelter dog. Michelle had been fairly adamant that their puppy would most be a rescue dog, but Bo came from a breeder. He is a bit of a reject, however, because he was purchased by someone else and then returned to the breeder after Bo (then known as Charlie) annoyed his owner’s older Portie.

    By now you’ve heard the totally unsubstantiated rumor that Michelle Obama might be pregnant. The chances of it being true are slim. After all, having just turned 45 years old, Michelle is of the age where it’s very difficult to conceive naturally, and something tells me that she and Barack (Is it disrespectful to be on a — one-sided — first name basis with the President and the First Lady?) aren’t making top secret trips to the fertility clinic.
