Oscar-nominated actor, performance artist, writer, aspiring film director, Yale Ph.D student, and now … college professor. James Franco does it all! New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts (my alma mater and the school where Franco is working on his MFA in film production) has hired him to teach a graduate level course on adapting poetry into short films. I’m unsure what qualifies him to teach this course. Oh, wait. Now that I think about it, he did play Allen Ginsburg in “Howl” so he must be an expert on poetry! Keep reading »

Could You Find True Love With A Columbia Student? DateMySchool Thinks So

Of all the arbitrary ways online dating sites seek to play matchmaker — pairing together Jews, bookworms, music fans, French bikers, or female inmates — the premise of DateMySchool.com is no better or worse. DateMySchool claims to “facilitate meeting of students from different departments within the same school and between different universities” by only allowing singles to join through their verified school emails. Daughter Wants “Artsy” Footage Dad Filmed Of Her Breasts Out Of NYU’s Archives

When Emma Tamburlini was 11 years old, her father, the late Pop artist Larry Rivers, began videotaping her and her sister every six months, naked or topless, and talking about their budding breasts. He edited the footage into a 45-minute film about his daughters called “Growing.” Rivers planned to show “Growing” as part of an exhibition, but his wife, Clarice, who appears in the film with his other teenage daughter, Gwynne, stopped him. At 16 years old, Emma became anorexic. “It wrecked a lot of my life actually,” she says of her father’s filming.

Today, Emma Tamburlini is 43 years old and attempting to stop New York University from including “Growing” in an archive of her father’s artwork. NYU purchased all of Larry Rivers’ work from the Larry Rivers Foundation, which has refused in the past to destroy the tapes at Emma’s request. After buying the archive from the Larry Rivers Foundation for an undisclosed price, NYU has only pledged to keep “Growing” private throughout the daughters’ lifetimes but is still discussing how the matter should be handled. Emma Tamburlini and her mother believe the films should be returned to the family. Keep reading »

Jude Law Throws Oranges At Obnoxious NYU Kids

Jude Law is an accomplished actor, infamous cheater, impregnator of some random model in Florida, and now, a fruit thrower. Law has been performing onstage in “Hamlet” in New York City recently and he rented an apartment in downtown Manhattan. It just so happens his swank bachelor pad is right next to an NYU freshman dormitory, Hayden Hall, with a balcony in full view of the students. An incredible crib like this probably rents for close to $10,000 a month (no, I’m not kidding), which would explain why Law got pissy when freshmen called out to him from their bedroom windows. Researchers Prove You Can Love Someone Foreva-Eva

No pressure if you’re just keeping a relationship together to score a sweet present on Valentine’s Day, but according to the Wall Street Journal, neuroscientists in New York have been able to prove that you can love someone forever. While a group of pessimistic psychologists were trying to plot the decline of passion in couples over the course of two decades, they accidentally discovered a handful of couples who were still in love.
