Lady Gaga might have run out of outrageous gimmicry this week. That’s the only reason we can imagine she tweeted this pic of herself fresh-faced and sans fards. “Have a beautiful day,” she tweeted. We kind of love her makeup-free face. What do you think? [NY Daily News]

Marion Cotillard is my consummate object of envy. Ethereal beauty? Check. Ridiculously handsome actor-director beau? Check. Radiant talent in strong, incredible roles, even portraying Edith Piaf herself? Check. Tack on the fact that she’s about as Gallic as they come and there you have it. My beauty-crazed, Francophile self is utterly enraptured by Marion. For an Italian Vanity Fair cover in 2010, she was photographed by Bruce Weber with her face essentially untouched by excessive studio makeup or Photoshopping. Yes, Marion went au naturel on a Vanity Fair cover and was no worse for it. That’s because she has what has to be the most flawless skin ever possessed by a human being. Keep reading »

Wear No Makeup To Work? Never!

Would you ever consider hitting the office, a business meeting, or just heading to the local supermarket without a swipe of your trusty lip gloss, concealer, or bronzer?

Quite frankly, some of us would rather go pantsless than leave the house without powdering our noses, but that’s exactly what The Beauty Bean website founder Alexis Wolfer, is aiming to change.

In the vein of Casual Friday, she’s spearheading Makeup Free Monday, a social campaign that challenges women to rethink their natural inner beauty and to stop apologizing for not wearing enough or perfectly-applied makeup. Read more Keep reading »

Kathie Lee & Hoda Do “Today” Without Makeup

This morning, during the millionth hour of “The Today Show,” Kathie Lee and Hoda, ever on trend, decided to go sans fards, like so many recent fashion cover models. Apparently, however, the idea came about because Rosie O’Donnell pointed out that she thought Kathie Lee had been looking differently lately, implying she had some cosmetic work done. During the makeup-less segment, Kathie Lee encourages Rosie to look for scars as evidence. Meanwhile, Hoda said she felt liberated by the experience. All of this gave me an idea, one I have not shared with the rest of the staff until just now — someday, in the near future, The Frisky will be run for a day sans fards. Stay tuned! Keep reading »

How To Pull Off The No-Makeup Look

Going sans fards is trendy right now, but there are a few fashion ladies who’ve been doing it since long before it was “cool.” T Magazine picked out a few of the coolest makeup-free women in fashion and we wholeheartedly agree with the list. First up — and our favorite — is Kelly Cutrone, PR maven and total badass. Also included were eco-conscious Barneys’ buyer Julie Gilhart, Celine designer Phoebe Philo and a few other natural, hot women. T says Philo pulls off her makeup-free look “by enveloping her face in a cloud of cigarette smoke,” but we’ve got a few suggestions less likely to result in cancer, after the jump. Jessica Simpson With No Makeup? Yeah, Right!

Marie Claire magazine claims this lovely cover photo of Jessica Simpson features the starlet with no makeup (!) and no retouching at all (!), and while I think this look is so, so much more flattering for J-Simp than her usual tranny-face, I don’t buy for a second she’s sans fards. Even if you don’t count tinted lip balm as makeup — which, come on, it is … and I know this because my mom wouldn’t let me wear it until I was 12 — eyebrow penciling, blush, mascara and eyeliner most certainly are, and Jessica is wearing those in abundance. Maybe the cover of the magazine should read “A de-glamored Jessica Simpson! Much less makeup than usual! Frizzy hair not retouched within an inch of its life! … Still some regrets!” Now, that would be truth in advertising! [via Huffington Post] Keep reading »

Check This Out: Model Makeovers

Love runway makeup? And models sans fards? If you haven’t seen “Model Morphosis,” a new-ish T Magazine blog feature, you must check it out immediately. Photographer Greg Kessler captures models backstage as they arrive at shows, then snaps their transformations after they’ve sat in the chairs of some of the most major makeup artists in the world. While it is endlessly fascinating, sadly, it does not back up the popular misconception that models are plain Janes without the hair and makeup and designer threads. They’re actually completely gorgeous and striking. (And that’s why they’re models, folks!) After the jump, another before-and-after. [T Magazine Blog] Keep reading »

Jennifer Garner Goes Sans Fards

The photo caption for this image reads: “Jennifer Garner seen out and about with no make-up.” If I looked that good sans fards, I would never not leave the house without makeup. [3/14/10, LA] Keep reading »

How Long Until You Let A New Guy See You Without Makeup?

Unless you’re a Neutrogena spokesmodel with flawless skin, you know there’s a huge difference between you with makeup and the bare-faced you. At least, I know this in my case. It’s not that my skin tone is that uneven or that I have so much acne, but I look like a completely different (and prettier) person with a swipe of foundation and a dab of concealer in the problem areas.
