Today’s Lady News: NY Post Columnist Suggests Cain Accuser Is Too Pretty To Be Credible

Today's Lady News
  • New York Post columnist Andrea Peyser tore into Sharon Bialek, the first woman to come forward with a face/name while accusing Herman Cain of sexual harassment. Why, the attractive blonde is so pretty that she must have been asking for it and/or making it up for more attention!  [The Stir
  • In honor of Election Day, Complex magazine published a list of “The 50 Hottest Women In Politics,” with descriptors like “slutty” and “big-boobed.” Klassy. [Name It Change It]
  • Mississippi is voting on a “fetal personhood” amendment today, which would criminalize all abortions by declaring a fertilized egg as a “person.” Yesterday, while speaking to a crowd, a woman named Cristen Hemmis who was kidnapped, raped and shot twice asked Lt. Governor Phil Bryant, who supports the amendment, to have “sympathy” for women like her. Phil Bryant’s reply? He told her the personhood amendment was a “battle of good and evil of Biblical proporitions” and that if abortion remains legal, “Satan wins.” Yes, he said this to a woman who was KIDNAPPED, RAPED, and SHOT. I give up. [Think Progress, NEMS360.com] Keep reading »

“NY Post” In Trouble For Accusing Hotel Maid Of Prostitution

Fireworks weren’t the only thing exploding over 4th of July weekend: that’s also when The New York Post published a scathing front-page article about the hotel maid who accused ex-IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault which, among other things, called her a prostitute. The paper quoted an unnamed source “close to the investigation” who said, “There is information … of her getting extraordinary tips, if you know what I mean. And it’s not for bringing extra f**king towels.” It basically insinuated the woman was being pimped out by her union.

The newsprint probably wasn’t even dry before the hotel maid, a refugee from Guinea who lives in the Bronx, filed a libel lawsuit against the Post. Now, as media reporters, like Erik Wemple at The Washington Post, look closer at the Post‘s so-called reportage, the prostitution allegation looks even fishier. Instead, it looks more like a smear to make this woman just look like some whore. Keep reading »

Today’s Lady News: Columnist Says Ines Sainz Provoked Harassment By “Selling” Her Hot Bod

  • In a column titled “Giving Off The Wrong Signals,” New York Post writer Andrea Peyser blames sports reporter Ines Sainz for being sexually harassed by the New York Jets, writing “all bets were off the minute Sainz declared herself ‘the hottest sports reporter in Mexico’” and questioning “exactly what she’s selling — her sweat and hard work, or her body parts.” Peyser also points out Sainz has posed nude in the past, which apparently excuses being hooted and hollered at for the rest of her life. [New York Post]
  • And it gets better! Clinton Portis of the Washington Redskins appeared on a Washington, D.C., sports radio show this morning to excuse the Jets’ behavior by way of claiming Ines Sainz surely found one of the team members “appealing” to her. “I don’t know what kind of woman won’t [find them appealing], if you get to go and look at 53 men’s packages,” Portis said. (Um, Clinton Portis? No one was talking about penises until you brought them up.) The NFL is less than pleased. [Washington Post]
  • The French senate has approved a ban on face-covering Muslim veils, like the niqab and the burqa. France is the first European country to impose such a ban, which will go into effect in spring 2011. [CNN]

Attention Ladies: Kyle Smith Thinks Your Maxi Dress Is Ugly

Earlier this month we asked readers of The Frisky, “Do you dress for men or women?” Most of you said you dress for yourself, period, which is why we thought you’d be interested in hearing about a controversial little article that ran in the New York Post this weekend. Writer Kyle Smith is very upset about women wearing maxi-dresses (a la the type Angie has helped make extra popular), and wants the ladies of NYC to know that these “urban burqas” aren’t doing them any favors. But wait, it gets better, or um, worse…

Trend: Brides Don’t Put Out Anything

If you thought that Bridezillas we’re bats%&t crazy, just wait until you hear how the average engaged woman feels about doin’ it before she says “I do!” According to the New York Post, a whopping 53% of brides-to-be won’t have sex with their future spouse for at least a month before their wedding. Forty-two-percent said they have also put a stop to any hanky-panky. Seriously?! Ladies, it’s not like you’re going to get your hymen to grow back in time to wear the white dress. You’ve already tried his family jewels on for size. Why should you deny yourself passion during these highly romantic/stressful times? Give it up, turn it loose! No wonder brides are always so up tight about floral arrangements and grooms go nuts at their bachelor parties! Come to think of it, I guess now I know what the “something blue” refers to. [NY Post]
