You might not know this about me, but I’m a little bit into crystals. At the beginning of the year, I bought a green aventurine stone, and I never take it off. I suppose these things are only as meaningful as you allow them to be, but in my case, my aventurine crystal—which is meant to provide a “heart’s new growth.” Also: “Removes hurts of the heart and encourages new, healthy growth. Balances male/female energies. Amplifies leadership qualities. Provides courage through love.—seems to really do the trick. And let’s face it, having a little crystal power couldn’t hurt. Long necklaces are a magical part of the jewelry kingdom. They’re great for layering with other necklaces, look striking on their own, and — fun fact! — the long vertical line they create can actually have a slimming effect. Add one to a little black dress, for example, and oh man will you look like a tall drink of water. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites that measure at least 24″ long and cost less than $50. Click through to check them out, and remember, contrary to what some stores would have you believe, a necklace is not a shirt.
Who are you calling “Four Eyes”? Kate Spade’s tiny glasses pendant on a gold-plated necklace is a quirky way to show friends that you’re a smartypants. Or, at least, one stylish chica. With specs this cute, you’ll be begging for astigmatism!

This jewelry designer thought plants were perfectly fashionable, and created wearable planters — tiny, miniature planters worn on necklaces and brooches that can be filled with the sprout, a succulent, or a flower of your choice. The planters are made from 3D printers and can be painted any color you choose, too! What a way to create a movable garden of earthly delights. [$30, Etsy] Keep reading »
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2″ hits theaters in less than two weeks. Sob! Must the saga come to an end?! This awesome lightning bolt necklace is the perfect accessory for a midnight screening, and unlike, say, a floor-length Gryffindor robe, it’s subtle enough to wear to work the day after. Plus, it’ll be a daily reminder of your devotion to Potter and crew until your prayers are answered and J.K. Rowling realizes her mistake in ending the series at book seven.
A nearly invisible thread connects the two leaf pendants on this necklace, which makes it look like they’re floating on your collarbone. The result is a gorgeous and unique piece of jewelry, although it might cause strangers to stare at your chest (not super enjoyable). And possibly start rumors that you’re a witch (always enjoyable).
