Crave: French Factory J’aime Le Chocolat Long Necklace

Excuse our French? Well maybe not today. Coming from a very French family, we were lucky enough to grow up in Paris and go back fairly often. Our aunt has always loved the city and would take us out when we were little to tea or shopping and would let us wear her bright red lipstick. This past year we were visiting for our birthday when she decided to take is to a jewelry expo, and we ran across this company. French Factory’s mix of jewelry is very tongue and cheek — delicate porcelain or gold with modern day expressions ranging from ladylike to raunchy on them. This “J’aime le choclolat” long necklace translates to “I love chocolate,” and of course who doesn’t? While it’s a French company and we ran across them at random, they have French and English sites that are definitely easy to access. [$76, French Factory] Keep reading »

Crave: Heart Shaped USB 2.0 Flash Drive Necklace

We here at The Frisky are computer geeks. There’s no use denying it, and we wouldn’t want to if we could. You can still look cool as a geek because some tech-y accessories are just begging to be worn, vaguely embarrassing or not. Among them is this plastic heart-shaped flash drive, which makes our real hearts flutter. It’s red, it’s geek chic and it holds more info than our minds ever could. What’s not to love? Crave: Demitasse Moustache Necklace

Apparently Nietzsche, like hipsters, wore a mustache while nattering on about how God is dead. Or so says Demitasse Jewelry vis-a-vis this funky little Nietszche ‘stache necklace. Sterling silver is the cheapest, but if you’ve got the money and a thing for philosophers, you can score a 14-karat one for $455. With all the coin we’ve spent on upper lip bleaching since puberty, this is just the kind of moustache we’ve been looking for! [Starting at $75, Demitasse Jewelry] Keep reading »

Crave: Alexis Bittar Sculptural Necklace

Jewelry designer Alexis Bittar makes thoroughly modern pieces with retro nods. Whether it’s his shaved lucite bangles with inlaid gold polka dots or this sculptural metal necklace, his goods are playfully sophisticated. In fact, his unique pieces, handmade in a Brooklyn loft, look more bent for an art museum, which explains why they retail at the MoMa store. Lucky for us, we don’t have to be a well-lit wall in a prestigious gallery or even a wealthy patron to wear his rad rhodium necklace. You can even pick up this beauty online. [$225,AlexisBittar.com]

Crave: Oval Poppy Necklace

Despite writing about relationships and marriage on a daily basis, we’re not actually sold on marriage as an institution. But one marriage we can get on board with, though, is that of wood and steel, like this mod necklace. It’s like they were just made for each other. See, if we were ever at a wedding for wood and steel and the officiator said, “Does anyone object to this union?” and someone said “yes” we would immediately have to have words with this person, because obviously he doesn’t know a good pair when he sees it. Who Wore It Better: Ugly Betty Or The Other Boleyn Girl?

When I first saw the poster for the movie The Other Boleyn Girl with Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson, Eric Bana, and Jim Sturgess, I thought, Wow. That necklace looks really familiar. And that it came to me — it’s Ugly Betty’s necklace! But upon further research, I learned that the necklace worn by Ugly Betty (and now Natalie Portman’s character, Anne Boleyn), is in fact a replica of a necklace worn by the real Anne Boleyn way back in the day. Get your own at Parrish Relics. Keep reading »
