The “Alien” movies are among my favorite films, and now there’s a rumor being bandied about in Hollywood and beyond that Natalie Portman may be taking on a role in an “Alien” prequel. Supposedly, she’s the actress favored by director Ridley Scott, although there’s no word out yet on who Portman might play in the sci-fi flick. Scott says the prequel will be a dark one: “The film will be really tough, really nasty. It’s the dark side of the moon.” It seems unlikely Portman would play a young Ripley, seeing as she looks nothing like Sigourney Weaver and is about a foot shorter, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Natalie Portman is gorgeous. And smart. And funny. And forever the quirky girl of every man’s dreams after her Shins-playing role in “Garden State.” And according to early reviews of “Black Swan,” Natalie may soon also be an Oscar winner. The flick premiered last night at the Venice Film Festival, and reviewers’ opinions of the movie as a whole seem to vary. But they all seem to agree that Natalie is amazing as Nina, a ballerina teetering on the edge when her company’s artistic director doesn’t believe she has the depth to play both the White Swan and the Black Swan in a reinterpretation of “Swan Lake” and brings in another dancer for the darker Black Swan part, Lily, played by Mila Kunis. Apparently, Natalie has been talking to director Darren Aronofsky about this part for almost a decade. Keep reading »

That’s what Natalie Portman and dancer boyfriend Benjamin Millepied, in the white shirt, were doing at the photo call for “Black Swan.” Instead of being photographed as a couple, director Darren Aronofsky stood in between them and slipped his hand around NatPort’s waist. Rodarte’s Mulleavy sisters have been involved in some unfriendly press lately over their MAC cosmetics oops, but here’s something nice to offset the bad—a sneak peek at the Rodarte-designed tutus that Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis get to wear in the upcoming flick “Black Swan.” In a nutshell, the movie is a psychological thriller about two ballerinas who get involved in a weird and dark competitive relationship.
