Get Naked, But Keep Your Clothes On

Sustainable Style
A month of eco-friendly fashion on The Frisky! Read More »

These days, it’s pretty cool to call yourself eco-friendly, and in the fashion world, that’s especially true. Lots of brands say they’re sustainable, but don’t actually have the environmental chops to back it up. Enter Naked Fashion, a book from author Safia Minney, with contributions from a slew of her famous friends, including designers Vivienne Westwood and Orla Kiely and actress Emma Watson. Minney and Co. give you the skinny on sustainability, covering everything from Fair Trade and the environment, styling and modeling, up-cycling and “slow” fashion, and even provide a directory of ethical brands and designers. After all, fashion and the environment impact everyone, especially women. As Watson explains, “I still find it hard to convey how much Fair Trade means to those producing our fashion – it’s just so impressive to see how the women have used Fair Trade to escape poverty and empower themselves and their children.” [$12.20, Amazon]
