It’s the first day of summer. Time to hit the beach! I can’t make it out ‘til this weekend, but my nails are so already there. Here are my “Seaside In Aguadilla” nails, the design I reference in the new July Issue of Marie Claire (check me out on page 162!). Except, this sand came straight from the shore The Ramones made famous: Rock, Rock, Rockaway Beach!
And now I’ll let you in on a secret: I got my sand to stick with a nail art must have—Color Club’s Nail Art Sealer. That stuff is a magical bonding topcoat for 3D effects! You should be able to find it at Sally Beauty Supply.

You were worried, weren’t you, that your dog was going to completely throw off your outfit. Well, never fea, we’ve got a solution! Dog nail polish is now a thing, so matching your purse to your pooch won’t be a problem again. Developed by the pet grooming company Warren London, the Pawdicure Polish Pens come in an array of colors and are water-based and non-toxic to pets. Depending on how docile your dog is–and how off the rails your own personal mental health is–you can even do crazy nail designs. Okay, ‘fess up — who’s into this? [$8.95, Warren London]
Summertime is all about the colors on your nails and, girl, have I got the color for you: Anardana, from the Thakoon for NARS collaboration. Gorgeous, right? This color is professional enough for work, sexy enough for a night of dancing under the stars, and girly enough for a picnic in the park. But if this rich pink hue doesn’t do it for you, Thakoon for NARS has got five other colors evoking an Indian spice market. I think I’m in love. [$18, NarsCosmetics.com]

I’m not going to lie: I get a manicure once a week. It’s a luxury, yes, but for me it’s a necessary one that’s worth the $13 and twenty minutes of dry time. You see, I err on the side of, ahem, nonchalant when it comes to my “look” — I think Kate Moss, you see Courtney Love — so a glossy coat of fresh lacquer is often one of the few things that make my style cohesive. I may not have washed my hair in three days, my lipstick may be smeared and faded, my skirt may be on sideways, but look closely and you will see I’m not just any vagabond. I’m a vagabond with a manicure. It’s very Derelicte, my friends. Keep reading »
