On Tuesday, the high in New York City is going to be 12 degrees. I know some of you live in the midwest and that’s all normal and good for you, but for me, 12 degrees is CRAZY INSANE COLD. Like, that ain’t right. If I could, I would wear a snowsuit all day, but I’ve found all that excess puffiness inhibits my ability to type. Instead, I shall layer a warm sweater dress over my coziest leggings and boots and pray Mother Nature gets her shit together soon.
Sweater dresses are awesome because they are all the warmth of a sweater, BUT LONGER, and all the cuteness of a dress, BUT WARMER, perfect for layering over tights or jeans/leggings. You really need one in your closet for these godawful winter months. Here are 17 to consider.
Cuff bracelets aren’t all reminiscent of Wonder Woman’s chunky wrist shield thingies. Delicate, lightweight and thin cuffs have a decidedly feminine feel that you can rock solo or pile on for a serious arm party. Here are 10 whimsical cuff bracelets I’m totally hot for.
Headed out on the town this New Year’s Eve? Keep your essentials — keys, credit card, lipstick and cell phone — safe in one of these fancy-pants evening box clutches. No longer just for teenagers headed to prom or celebs walking an award show red carpet, these metallic, sparkly and jeweled little purses will give any party look a little extra oomph.
When it comes to New Year’s Eve, the goal of your outfit should be to make the disco ball jealous. The more sequins, glitter, rhinestones, and sparkle, the better. Don’t stop at a sequined dress — go all out with some truly show-stopping sparkly shoes, too! Here are 10 pairs I’m currently drooling over, most of which are around $50 or less. Oh, and they’re all from Zappos, because their shipping is so scary-fast that you’ll be sure to receive your fancy footwear by NYE (I swear I wasn’t paid to say any of that, I’m just obsessed with Zappos and secretly believe they employ precogs to ship my shoes before I even order them). Anyway, click on the gallery to let the New Year’s Eve sequined shoe parade begin!
Yet another sign that I am getting old: I get really, really excited when I have a new set of pajamas. Sure, in summer, I just go to bed in a tank and undies, but during winter? Matching flannel PJs all the way, baby. Maybe I am putting too much emphasis on sleepwear, but putting on a set of matching PJs makes me feel like I’ve really got my shit together. Because, I mean, look at me, I am wearing an outfit to bed. So retire those sweats and ratty Ts and sleep in style in one of these comfy and cozy pajama sets…
When it comes to holiday party outfits, the truth is you can wear pretty much whatever you want (floor-length gown, skinny jeans, pencil skirt, pajama bottoms) as long as you top it with a really fierce, fabulous jacket. The perfect party-ready jacket is made of faux fur or covered in sequins (or both!), has a vaguely “rebellious socialite” vibe, will keep you at least kinda warm while you try to hail a cab, and can be worn all night long. Here are 10 super glam coats and jackets that fit the bill!

Choosing a holiday dress your grandma will approve of is an art form. It can’t be too flashy or high fashion. It must be relatively modest, with feminine details like lace, floral prints, and peplums. Bonus points for retro styles that harken back to your granny’s youth (peter pan collars, full skirts, etc). Does this all seem overly complicated? It is! Which is why I’ve done the work for you and scouted out 10 holiday dresses that will have your famously snarky grandmother singing your praises (at least until she finds out you’re living with your boyfriend out of wedlock, you’re on your own with that one).
