Katy Perry Makes One Hot Alien

Whoa. Katy Perry‘s look in the video for “ET” is even more convincingly alien than we’d originally thought. We won’t get to see the full vid until the 31st, but Katy posted this image—plus the two after the jump—on Facebook to give us a taste of her turquoise contacts, pink veiny forehead, and space-age fingernails. I’m kind of loving it. What do you think? Keep reading »

Benji And Joel Madden Do “Family Double Dare”

I am not the world’s biggest Good Charlotte fan. But, man, am I loving this video for their song “Last Night” because “Double Dare” was so awesome! I especially appreciate that Marc Summers pushed past his extreme OCD to once again gaze upon the giant nose with all the boogers you have to rummage through to find the flag. Da Nose was the best. Willow Smith Is A 21st Century Girl

Willow Smith isn’t waiting for the sun to come out tomorrow. She has dropped her new video for “21st Century Girl,” which takes her to the desert, where she turns sand into a butterfly and runs with wolves. Well, until she pulls some buildings into place and peels away the desert to reveal a city street. I was admiring how amazing her yellow puff sleeve top looks with that red Galliano-esque skirt when I remembered that she is actually a 21st Century Girl—born on October 31, 2000. And then I just felt kinda old. [PopEater] Keep reading »

Little Girls Debut Music Video Criticizing Lil Wayne’s Sexist Lyrics

Kick ass! A nine-year-old and a 10-year-old who call themselves Watoto From The Nile wrote and performed a hip-hop song about rapper Lil Wayne’s derogatory and sexist lyrics. How much do you love these little girls? Amelia, when you retire in 2031 and replace yourself with the five-year-old girl who won’t marry until she has a job, can these cuties replace me, Kate and Ami? Kanye West’s “All Of The Lights” Video Is Out — Featuring Rihanna And Kid Cudi

Britney Spears who? The new music video I care about is Kanye West‘s “All Of The Lights,” a bittersweet love song about a nasty breakup, featuring Kid Cudi and Rihanna. I’m in love with the beginning and the end of the video where all the lyrics are lit up onscreen, but the middle is kinda meh. Kanye on top of a police car? Yawn. And is it just me or does Rihanna look like she’s bored and phoning it in with the sexy come-hither look? In any case, it’s an improvement on Kanye’s violent “Monster” music video with women’s severed heads everywhere. [YouTube] Keep reading »

6 Music Videos With Obvious Product Placement

So what’s the deal with all the product placement in music videos these days? Sure Britney’s video earlier today was filled with subtle – and not so subtle – references to products available on the market. So what’s the deal?

Well, product placements help offset the costs of making videos, which are normally paid for by the record label and the artist. According to a report released last summer by PQ Media, a research firm, the money spent on product placement in recorded music grew 8 percent in 2009 compared with the year before, while overall paid product placement declined 2.8 percent, to $3.6 billion.

Revenue from product placement in music videos totaled $15 million to $20 million last year, more than double the amount in 2000.

Christina, Ke$ha, Travie McCoy and Kylie are all guilty… Read more… Keep reading »

Woo Hoo! New Radiohead Album And Video

It feels like Christmas in February listening to the new Radiohead album, King of Limbs, which is available for download today from Radiohead.com. As exciting? This new video for “Lotus Flower.” Oh, how I love Thom Yorke’s dancing. His moves are just adorable in an awkward yet not-at-all awkward way. This definitely undoes the “Hold It Against Me” disappointment. Keep reading »

Yes, Britney—We Will Hold It Against You

So, yesterday, I felt a little giddy about the prospect of a new big budget, big choreography, big costume Britney Spears music video. Only instead of BritBrit dancing in the new dance track “Hold It Against Me,” we get lots of Britney just standing there and gesticulating with her arms while other people dance around her. Also, what’s up with all the product plugs in here? A close-up of her new perfume, Radiance—eww. A shot of a MakeUp Forever tub—really? Her logging on to PlentyOfFish.com—WTF?!?! Honestly, the only part of this video that doesn’t feel like a big ole disappointment is the quick scene where she fights herself. But maybe you disagree. What do you think of the video? Katy Perry And Kanye West Have Alien Sex

Katy Perry alien video

Looks like Katy Perry and Kanye West have made up after beefing over the whole “Imma Let You Finish” debacle. Kanye has added some verses to her new single, “E.T.,” and yesterday Katy posted a photo of the two of them on the set of the new video. So what does Kanye rap about on the song? Here are some sample lyrics: “I wanna bathe … in your milky way … Rockets on deck/ Tell me what’s next/ Alien sex! I’mma disrobe you then I’mma probe you.” Bet Russell Brand loves that.
