Björk Is Back, And Ready To Attack

Raise your hand if you are excited for Björk‘s new album, Biophilia, which will drop in late September. Luckily, she has cut the suspense, releasing her first video from the album, “Crystalline,” this morning. Not only is the song thorougly embedded in my head now, the video is also dope. Not that I should be surprised—it’s directed by the amazing Michel Gondry. Enjoy. [Village Voice] Keep reading »

Rebecca Black Takes Her Moment

Rebecca Black has attempted to make Monday the new Friday. Yesterday evening, she released the video for her new single, “My Moment.” It’s gloriously cheesy, showing Rebecca clapping strangely in front of a sound board, singing dreamily while getting her makeup done and attempting a dance sequence, a very risky move. I don’t quite get the lyric, “This is my moment, my moment/ It’s my time, flying high, lime, mine.” I’m guessing she means the limelight and not the citrus fruit? What do you think—does this song compare to “Friday”?

Greyson Chance’s Threat: He’ll “Unfriend You”

Now, if you are under the age of 14, you are probably already familiar with this video. But I’m old (as in, I don’t even have a Twitter account), and thus it only entered my consciousness this weekend when I (fittingly) saw it posted on a younger cousin’s Facebook page. Greyson Chance has been dubbed the new Justin Bieber. You just don’t want to get on his bad side because if you do, he’ll “Unfriend You.” As he sings in the song, “You’re the best liar I ever knew / so Imma unfriend you / cause I should have known, right from the start / I’m deleting you right from my heart.” I guess it was only a matter of time before someone penned a pop song about the phenomenon of unfriending since it’s the new incarnation of leaving someone’s stuff on their doorstep. This makes me curious—when you break up with someone, what’s your unfriending policy? Keep reading »

Beyoncé’s Ode To “The Best Thing I Never Had”

Beyoncé has released the video for “Best Thing I Never Had,” and normally, I am all about new Beyoncé videos. But I’m not so sure about this one. It starts with B standing around in bridal lingerie, awkwardly singing to an ex. As the video proceeds, we see Beyoncé and said ex at prom (where he dances with another girl) and Beyoncé at her wedding with the ex in attendance (wearing a pair of bad glasses) as she belts out lyrics like, “Thank god you blew it/ Thank god I dodged a bullet.” Now, I love the sentiment of this song. But really—a woman is singing to her ex on her wedding day? Who came up with this concept? Also, I don’t recommend rolling around in the grass in a wedding dress. Just sayin’. LuAnn De Lesseps Recruits Jill Zarin And Kelly Bensimon For “Chic, C’est La Vie”

Everything I need to know I learned from a Countess LuAnn de Lesseps music video. Last year, we were taught that “Money Can’t Buy You Class.” And now in her new video for “Chic, C’est La Vie,” LuAnn has the following lessons to share: (a) saying a few French words makes you all the more fabulous, (b) diamonds are like, really important, and (c) every girl needs her besties—this time she has buddies Jill Zarin and Kelly Bensimon along to help her with the song. But the best part is when LuAnn tries to get philosophical. “Find your dreams within yourself and live with dignity/ Hair done, jewelry on, Oh mirror on the wall/ Beauty, class, and elegance fly within the soul.” Yeah, that almost rhymes. Trust Me, I’m Doing You A Favor By Not Posting James Franco’s Music Video

God, James effing Franco. I hate James Franco so much. Why? James Franco believes — and the world seems to be all too happy to confirm — that he is smarter and more clever and funnier than he really is. He is not any of those things! It’s a conspiracy! Don’t believe it, people! Look, James Franco happens to be very good at one thing: being very, very attractive. James Franco has been riding on his pretty points for a long time now, and I’m so over it. His art sucks, his performance art sucks, his writing certifiably sucks, and judging from his nearly-unlistenable musical collaboration with performance artist Kalup Linzy, he is terrible at music, too. Stop the madness! Do not perpetuate this fallacy of Franco as some kind of genius renaissance mouse or something. He’s just a very hot dude who has used his prettiness to pull a sham on the world. (And okay fine, here’s the stupid video, after the jump.) Keep reading »
