As much as it pains my Brooklyn heart to say this, this little video from a couple of cool Portland parents might just score extra points in the Portland vs. Brooklyn battle. These guys made a shot-for-shot remake of the Beastie Boys’ iconic Spike Jonze-directed video “Sabotage,” starring their own children. Brooklyn, I believe you’ve been one-upped.  [Portland Mercury]

Justin Bieber Debuts “Boyfriend” Music Video

Confession: I am seriously, seriously obsessed with Justin Bieber’s song “Boyfriend.” It is Justin Timberlake-lite, but considering JT is so serious about “acting” now, JB will have to do. And now there’s a music video! Truthfully, I was feeling a little uncomfortable watching him trying to be sexy, because he is so young and really too pretty for my tastes, but then I started imagining that Justin is actually Justine, a lesbian, and it somehow made it a little better. Plus, Justin’s got sweet moves. Don’t judge me!

Double Take, the dynamic duo who recorded “Hot Problems,” the song that threatens to overtake Rebecca Black’s “Friday” for the title of worst song ever, appeared on “Good Morning America” today to discuss their sudden fame and terrible singing. It seems the pair knew they really couldn’t sing, which is why they chose to simply “talk” the lyrics instead. The girls insist they meant the song as a joke, but we’re not quite convinced. Another day, another bizarre rich girl vanity project, this time from Katie Chonacas, aka Kyriaki Sunday, who apparently took a trip to Monaco and “almost lost her heart” there. That’s why she penned this bubbly, name-dropping, weird spoken word track about her clubbing vacay to the Euro hot spot, and the man-child she almost fell in love with. THEY BOTH LIKE BANANAS, PEOPLE! I mean, if that’s not a sign of a real connection, I don’t know what is. This is a must-watch. A must-watch. [YouTube]

It’s really hard being pretty. That’s the sentiment held by the Rebecca Blacks of 2012, Double Take, who have made a simply horrific track called “Hot Problems.” Because “hot girls we have problems too, we’re just like you except we’re hot.” Clearly, two of their problems are 1) they can’t sing and 2) they will have no friends once their pals catch this video. David Lynch Is Back With A New Music Video (NSFW)

I find that if you like one of David Lynch’s films, you really like all of them. His repertoire is interesting in that way — I don’t think there’s anyone who likes, say, “Mulholland Drive” but not “Blue Velvet,” or vice versa. I’m a member of the happily bizarre demographic that enjoys and embraces all things Lynchian. He’s been freaking me out for nearly a decade, ever since I watched “Eraserhead,” and paused the movie to cry a little midway through. Anyway, I digress. The maestro of all things subtly grotesque and foreboding is at it again with a skin-crawling new music video for the album he released last year, Crazy Clown Time. If you aren’t accustomed to Lynch’s particular brand of edgy, nausea-inducing eccentricity, then steer far, far away, because this video is not the ideal opportunity to give it a try. It’s also definitely not safe for work. Any work. Ever.

Madonna has returned! The Material Girl has laid low for a few years, but the new video for her song “Give Me All Your Luvin’” proves that 30+ years after rising to fame, she still somehow looks, sounds, and even moves like no time has passed. That’s the extent to which I will allow myself to compliment the pop star’s recent musical debut.

I shouldn’t “hate” on someone who was just resurrected from the grave, but after watching the video, I am tempted to believe that Madonna may actually be a zombie trying to turn me by way of music video zombification. I was literally stuck in a trance-like, brain-dead state after exposing my senses to the neuron-murdering chant: “L-U-V Madonna, Y-O-U, you wanna” compounded by the confused high school football-themed visual diarrhea.  Keep reading »

Look, It’s Tavi In The New Wilco Music Video

Owing to a random train of events, Spencer Tweedy, the son of Wilco’s lead singer, made a music video with Rookie‘s Tavi Gevinson for the title track of his dad’s new album, The Whole Love. The video, which also stars Spencer’s younger brother Sammy, shows the kids sliding around on wood floors in their socks, playing on a playground, and building pillow forts. You know, the kind of stuff kids do when they’re not shooting magazine covers and making music videos. Read more and see the video…

Rihanna channels everybody from Alex in “A Clockwork Orange” to a cane-toting pimp in her new video, “You Da One,” which is all done in black and white.  The song is epically meh — her vocal inflections remind of stuff Gwen Stefani was doing 10 years ago. But at least the outfits are cool. What do you think? Keep reading »

All The Looks From Lady Gaga’s “Marry The Night” Video

This week, Lady Gaga debuted the new video for her latest single “Marry the Night.” There’s a lot going on, and unsurprisingly, not all of it makes total sense — even taking into consideration that its story is clearly jumbled chronologically. Gaga plays a bedazzling, hair-dying, cereal-smearing, train wreck of a ballet dancer gone rogue, and at one point, little animated fairies appear to fly out of her butt. The Haus of Gaga certainly isn’t lacking for creativity, but still, this latest effort (all her own work, too) leaves many questions unanswered. Click through our slideshow breakdown of all the “Marry the Night” looks, accompanied by whatever explanations we could muster. Read more…
